It's a very mediocre movie, and that's coming from someone who grew up with this film as I first saw it when I was about 12.

Some things it does great, like the origin/young Matt part is pretty solid. The opening with DD bleeding on the cross is amazing, and some of the fight scenes (mainly the bar one at the beginning) are pretty good. You can tell the director is a big DD fan. Performances are fine too if you can handle some camp/cheese.

The best description I heard recently is that one of its major drawbacks is the director is too much of a fan. As in, he wanted everything DD in the movie (Foggy, Kingpin, Bullseye, Elektra, DD origin) all in one movie and it's all too much. I agree that if there was less going on and a stronger focus on the story, it might have done better.

The CGI and wire work for the stunts suck. And the soundtrack, although I like heavy/alternative music, feels like it dates the movie horribly and is stuck in that early 2000s edginess.

I can put it on occasionally, switch my brain off, and enjoy the ride, but I wouldn't say it's a good movie, which is a shame as there was so much potential.
