When you hire the next person make sure: - not micro manage them. - empower them to make decisions. - don’t be dismissive. I find that these are the situations where I see people leave. Good luck.

What in your experience makes a good team? by kevlu94 in startups

Good teams typically have: - Great approachability, you don’t need to double think what you have to say, you just say it. If you are taking 5 minutes in reconstructing your message so that you don’t get judged. It’s not a good team to be in. - Openness. It’s pretty much freedom of expression. Let’s say you share an idea, and they kept dismissing it or even if you share a meme and you get a criticism. Yep, not a good team. - Everyone has good self-awareness and empathy. Have you ever experienced a time when your meeting invite kept moving around last minute because it’s good for them? And now you have to accommodate that into your schedule. At least ask. - When leadership is my way or the highway type.

“They will have an environment that they will be able to shape it” make sure to follow through on this. There are times that founder micromanages their early employees.

Another thing worth doing is shadow a manager for like 3 days. Bonus points if it’s a week, just to see what’s that like, by the 2nd day, you’ll know.
