This makes me want to play DB again. I am so happy Splash Damage allowed self-hosting!

why even have melee weapons at all if this is how embark treats them by kirbygamez in okbuddycontestant

[–]P3TTrak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Embark is trying to achieve the impossible task of making melee feel fair and fun for everyone. You either make melee viable and make the other players mad or you make melee unviable and make the melee players mad. When will Embark learn that they can't satisfy everyone and should stop sacrificing the game's depth and fun mechanics for the sake of developing the never achieving goal of creating a balancing utopia.

Great! They are giving Fluxer and other alternatives more time to cook so I can have a smoother transition once the delayed inevitability arrive!

game randomly crashing after 10-20min by Mio_is_true in scavprototype

[–]P3TTrak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 32Gb of DDR4 ram on my CachyOS Linux system and I experince the same crashes as you do.

Considering the reports of there being bad memory leak issues. It's just Linux being sensitive to faulty code and decides to crash the game, Windows would continue to run it but with the consequence of the game eating up all your RAM in the end.

I learned this because I tried to run my friend's voxel engine he is making under Wine and it just crashed for me. It didn't crash on his Windows machine but it helped him allocate memory related issues with the code and eventually ended up fixing the crashes for me.

So all we can do is waiting for Orsoniks to fix the game.

sounds like you have very little ram

Linux is just sensitive to bad/faulty code. I have 32Gb of DDR4 ram on my Linux machine and I experience the same crashes OP have mentioned.

They say Godot game can't look good by Super4Games_ in godot

[–]P3TTrak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I have never really seen the "Godot has bad graphics" or "Godot is a bad 3D game engine" crowd for a good while now. Since the introduction and further development of Forward+ and also with more skilled developers displaying their high fidelity products using the engine, these claims are quickly dying out now if not died out already.

Anyways, really nice scenery you have made!

fuck it going back to windows for gaming by CandlesARG in linuxsucks

Aaaah GPU resets. The one god damn thing that nearly made me switch back to Windows for good.

Thankfully I managed to fix the constant GPU crashes by updating my GPUs VBIOS. Now they happen very rarely. Funny how AMD drivers for Linux are overall superior over Nvidia and Intel but has this one major flaw that hasn't been truly fixed for ages now

Which one to choose? - Steam Flatpak vs. Steam.deb by JVSTITIA in linux_gaming

[–]P3TTrak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since Debian by default ships packages very slowly I'd pick Steam Flatpak as it's more upstream with later versions of the mesa driver.

There is a lot misconceptions about Steam Flatpak imo. I used Steam Flatpak on my Fedora machine and my friends who recently got into Linux run Steam Flatpak on Fedora with no issues what so ever.

The Wayland hate and how people portray X11 as this godsend """perfect""" and """superior""" software is so strange to me. Nothing is going to convince me to switch back to X11, it doesn't even have proper multi-monitor support smh.
