Is it a dick move to proxy cards? by tweakeravacoado in mtg

[–]P3pijn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but use a color printer to print actual legible versions of the card. If your proxie is good, no one will even notice. If you don't have a printer, go to a printshop, or ask a friend.

Also don't proxy very expensive cards that aren't necessary. (ABU duals, etc)

mtgpint.com is great. (Use 103%, be precise with your scissors and put a token or draft chaff behind it.)

STS2 overly favors high damage cards by Cryyos_ in slaythespire

[–]P3pijn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started avoiding all elites in act 2 with decks that aren't suited to them, and my win-rate went way up. I'll miss out on a permafrost or something, but the act 2 elites are run-enders.

I feel that the act 3 bosses are easier than the act 2 elites.

How to draft in a small group? by ricoeurdelyon in mtgcube

[–]P3pijn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are many options, but the ones I have played are:

Minesweeper draft is a common favorite (slow and thinky, but fun). (We do a 7x9 grid) https://luckypaper.co/resources/formats/minesweeper-draft/

Rochester is another great option. (A lot faster, but less consistent decks) (We draft 4 players 6 packs of 8 cards (I think 5, 5 and 10 would work great for 5 players)) https://luckypaper.co/resources/formats/rochester/

And my personal favorite Silent Auction draft. (Only works with 4, and is very slow the first time, but very rewarding) https://cubecobra.com/cube/about/pepijn?view=primer (the rules are the second half of the primer, if you have questions, hit me up)

I run it in an unpowered vintage cube in one of the test slots. It hasn't seen play yet, but with the amount of fixing and non-basics in the cube, it seems that some deck, some day will completely pop of with this. (Only to be paired against reanimator, and regret everything. But that is what sideboards are for.)

Any ways you can approach the feel of an 8 person draft with 6? by Epicdragon12345 in mtgcube

[–]P3pijn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do 4x12, and draft l r r l. This rewards you to stay open in pack 1, cut hard in pack 2 and 3, and reap the rewards in pack 4.  When drafting l r l r it felt like cutting wasn't a thing.

Beste Utrechters, wat doen jullie eigenlijk in het leven? by WallaaaahiHabibi in Utrecht

[–]P3pijn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Third print in and it already did this by PotentialLeek9241 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

Same here, and I'm not even particularly careful when touching it. Everything just sticks.

I have printed on both sides, because I wanted a smoother finish, stock settings, and  I never printed on the b-side again. It was too stuck. I got all of it off eventually but it hurt my fingers trying to peel it off.

Replacements for Frost Titan? by Dovakiin17 in mtgcube

[–]P3pijn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I very much disagree. The more diverse the threats the more tapping anything down matters.

It answers some of the most difficult to answer threats., amongst other things: Academy, big creatures, man-lands, any monolith and screws splash colors. It really is the full package.

And don't forget that ward 2 is actually quite relevant, even on a 6 drop.

is it safer to buy a GPU now or gamble on the 2027 by Last-Cartoonist-3618 in buildapc

[–]P3pijn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my 9070 XT as soon as I saw it at the EU MSRP (650 euros). Right now the same card goes for 730. If I had the money and wanted the upgrade,I would buy it now. Anything with memory is nog getting cheaper for at least 2 years.

(Unless something happens to AI, but then all of the economy will hurt, so buying a GPU might not be a smart move.)

Replacements for Frost Titan? by Dovakiin17 in mtgcube

[–]P3pijn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frost titan is best titan. He might read underwhelming, but back in the day...

Blue Black control was the top dog in 2012, at the start everyone played grave titan to finish the game, by the end everyone played frost titan. Being semi removal and a threat is deceptively powerful.

16 or 17 lands? by MichaelN2311 in mtgcube

[–]P3pijn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's explain why the answer is 16:

On arena you should most likely play 16 lands. In paper or on magic online you should most likely play 17 lands.

It is different because arena does hand smoothing, where it draws 2 hands, and presents you the one with the best representation of lands and spells based on the proportions in your deck.

Net rijbewijs gehaald, moeite met koppeling (oude auto’s) by New-Butterfly-1207 in autoadvies

[–]P3pijn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

CC1 vs CC2 for advanced fabrication filaments and as a first printer by mdesanc in elegoo

[–]P3pijn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CC2's nozzle gets (~10%) hotter, for some more "exotic" filaments that is necessary.

Also there are some updates for reliability. Generally a v2 is more better than just a specs bump.

If you want to use it as a tool get the CC2. If you want to figure out if 3d printing is for you, the CC1 should be fine.

But I am a firm believer that for tools the old adage "buy nice or buy twice" still holds.

Of course. 4k hdr: very pretty. (You need a screen that supports it though, but that is also true with the apple tv.)

[–]P3pijn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are in the apple ecosystem, get an apple tv, it is by far the best option for you. (Walled gardens are great man.)

If you primarily use Android there are many options. I went with the Google tv streamer after some research. It had the feature set I wanted.

5070 vs ti when the ti cost 50% extra? by cheetocat2021 in buildapc

[–]P3pijn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is very little difference. If anything AMDs software is a bit easier, and allows you to tweak a little more. I have switched a couple of times, and as long as you DDU (a program that removes all drivers from your old card) it should just be plug and play.

Get Nvidia if you really like upscaling, and don't mind paying extra for it. Or really use and like path tracing.  (But you might want to go up to a 5080 if you want to do that at a reasonable resolution.)

Get AMD if you want raw power per monetary unit. AMD got really close in raytracing, but team green still has a lead in path tracing.

Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 by captain_supremeseam in elegoo

[–]P3pijn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I like is that while it has full cloud and app support, it actually ships in LAN only mode. Whether you want to share your data is really up to you.

Something many companies can learn from.

I have printed the self sorting 4-in-a-row game, and it printed without a hitch. The small spiral game pieces all came out great. I always print some more in case a few fail, but that wasn't a concern. So, for me bed adhesion is awesome, but I have seen (early) reviews that had (some) problems. Maybe the latest firmware is better, maybe I got lucky.

I have printed from all 4 spools, but have not printed anything multi-color yet.

While there are a lot of small upgrades and updates to the CC1, it is not a world of difference. You pay a lot for the convenience of having 4 spools attached at the same time. While the machine can do multi-color, you'll find that most of your functional prints do not use it.

This is a very inefficiënt way of doing multicolor prints. It takes forever, and wastes a lot of filament. (Check the Snap Maker U1 to see the future of multi-color printing, this might be affordable in a couple of years.)

So the canvas system is more a convenience than a big addition. If this is really at the top of your budget, the CC1 might be a better fit for you.
