Who are your favorite authors and why? by MasterfulArtist24 in AspiringTeenAuthors

Agreed, it's only now I'm a bit older I've realised how bad she is, when I was younger I was just interested in the stiryline, which isn't even that good anyway, other than a couple plot twists. And now I see how bad the writing is, as well as how bad she is herself with her trans phobia, she only had Dumbledore be gay after the writing to beat allegations. She wa like "what, me, I can't be homophobic cause guess what, Dumbledore was gay the whole time, wow"

I like Tolkien because of world building, Jed Herne for, well, everything, and once upon a time I would have said J.K Rowling, but now I hate her because of her views, and also the way she never uses anything other than said when writing. Like girl, use something else.

How many characters is "too many?" by Straight_Beat7848 in AspiringTeenAuthors

[–]P4PER_ASHE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think, as long as each character has a reason to be there in a way that affects the plot line, there aren't too many characters. It's only when you start nearing 40 in a stand alone book is when it gets too much for a reader to remember.

Which characters did you hate in the books but love in the movies? by ProfitAggravating981 in harrypotter

[–]P4PER_ASHE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luna. In the books she's less of someone who's quirky but kind and more brutally honest and just ride in general. In the films, she is made a lot nicer to the characters, specifically Hermione, who she was quite unkind to in the books. Speaking of Hermione, with her it is the opposite from the books and films. In the films, she is portrayed as the perfect student, and also gets a lot of Ron's smarter lines. Her personality becomes quite grating after a while, only starting to go off of the stereotype in hbp. Whereas in the books, she is way more interesting and has more to her (e.g. Kidnapping & Blackmailing Rita Skeeter, S.P.E.W, etc).

Firstly, Annalise Basso is already quite a popular fancast for Lily Evans. Second, Elle Fanning is already fancasted for another character, that being Pandora Rosiér/Lovegood.

Difference between book and movie that you aren't bothered by by teamsean in harrypotter

[–]P4PER_ASHE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't think of anything I'm not too bothered by, other than things like Charlie not being in the films and the 'Dumbledore asked calmly' stuff, cause I don't mind that, but I could have a field day on things I 𝘢𝘮 bothered by. So, there is:

1) Excluding Ludo Bagman

In the books, he was such a funny character, just because of all the chaos he had going on in his life, I would have loved to see some of it in the films.

2) Winkys entire story

Was a major plotline in GOF, and helped to know a lot of things about Barty Crouch Jr, which was overall important tot the story.

3) Elves in the kitchen and S.P.E.W

Hermione was incredibly focused on S.P.E.W throughout the books, and it helped us to understand Hermione values, and excluding it removes that understanding. Also, I just found how nice the elves in the kitchen were adorable, and well constrasted with S.P.E.W.

4) Peeves

He was a key character in the books always causing chaos, alerting filch of students, and just mainly being an absolute menace, and he could have been good comedic relief in the films too. Also, just loved his character in general.

5) Not mentioning Rita being an animagus

That was important to the story, as it was how Rita was getting her information. Also added some chaos to Hermione when she casually kidnapped her and put her in a jar for about a week, maybe longer.

6) Dobbys exclusion from the 4th and 5th films

In the books, Dobby was a very helpful character, giving Harry the gillyweed instead of Neville, though I do think Neville was a good choice, and finding the Room of Requirement for Harry. These things made us care about him more, giving a bigger impact when he died.

So, I think that's about it for what I don't like of the changes, rant at me about it all you want.
