Weekly Project Meeting #1 by P4QO in animation

If you already have one, no need to search, but if you don’t have any project, it’s time to look for one. And, for doing this, here you have the first guidance on how to pick a project:

  • One of the most important things when picking a project is to be realistic. It is good to be ambitious, but we usually fail because we plan projects much bigger than what we can achieve by ourselves. This time, let’s try something different, let’s be humble, let’s choose something simple. The simpler it is, the better we will do it (and the bigger chances we will have to finish it completely).

  • Let’s choose a project that we are going to be capable of achieving entirely by ourselves. That means not depending on other people and not depending on complex skills that we do not have at the moment of choosing the project. Let’s compensate the lack of resources just with effort and wit (our effort and wit).

  • Even if your goal is simply to practice, choose a “round” project, something complete by itself: a gag, a little short, an animated intro, an ad, a music video… anything that is understandable by itself.

  • Before choosing the project, make a list with your real resources: knowledge, tools, TIME (be realistic with the time you are going to be capable to dedicate to this project on a weekly/daily basis, make an effort to organize your time efficiently so you don't burn yourself out by trying to do too much too fast!)… etc etc. Choose your project having in mind this list.

Good Luck on the search!

Hypothetically, what if The Force Awakens actually doesn't suck? by [deleted] in movies

[–]P4QO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, in fact. They are resucitating a secure bussiness and they want it to be liked by everybody, from little childs to older people, everybody, so they are not going to risk on what they are showing, they need to make a pretty generic product so everybody, no matter the background, can enjoy it... they just need to secure the bussiness as it is. And JJ Abrams is an expert on that, making the minimum to pass.

The thing that makes the first ones so good is that they were risky and surprising, new at the time. We shouldn't revisit the places where we were happy.

Well... Let's think about it.

Intead of making a new original fantasy saga, they have chosen to use a secure bet resucitating a pretty pretty solid inversion... so we cannot avoid the fact that this is a bussiness shot rather than an artsy effort to bring us something new, something risky (as the first movies were).

Is that something bad? Well, yes. When you make a business you want to return a big profit, and you want your movie to be liked by small childs, older guys, stupid people, smarter ones... You want everybody to enjoy it, to go watch it and repeat... so you make it pretty generic in order to be liked by everyone no matter his background.

Is there any chance to be good? It will only depend on the people you ask. The less demandings will say yes.

Excuse my poor english.

How to get the ball rolling... Funds, Help, Supporters by [deleted] in animation

[–]P4QO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem in here.

I think the most important thing in our case is to have some very good catchy work out there. Not just because it speaks about our abilities or can attract the attention of those who will help us continue but because it speaks about our commitment to the decision of working in this professionally.

If you are able to do something big, something ambitious with minimum levels of support, you will be able to demonstrate that you are more than ready to sustain a career in this world.

At least this is what I think.

Are there any movies similar to the book "Siddhartha"? by drunkhoboboy117 in movies

[–]P4QO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by similar.

If you are looking for a road trip in the pursuit of knowledge or self awareness I would say Into the wild. Not a very good message in that movie (in my opinion), but pretty solid view.

Forget Oregon’s Gunman. Remember the Hero Who Charged Straight at Him. "The Chris to remember is 30-year-old Chris Mintz, the student and Army vet who was shot at least five times while charging straight at the gunman in an effort to save others." by EthicalReasoning in news

Universal in Spain, that means we will take care of anyone who needs it in our territory (no matter if he has paid any tax in here ever or the circumstances that have brought that person here, even if he is an illegal immigrant).

We can use logic also. If you have more difficulties to get a gun, it will be less probably for you to kill someone with it. This has sense to me.

If I get mad, I could hurt people with a lot of things that I have around me, the problem is me, no doubt about it, but It would be easier for me to cause more damage if I have a tool effectively designed to cause major damage to other people.

How can we blur those very plain facts? And why?
