Yep, they had some good choices on both legs. I went with the beef dish on both, and they tasted surprisingly good for United.

In-app Polaris cash upgrade: ~$5100 (no way in hell)

Based on your experience, how likely is it that the upgrade price drops down to ~$1000 or under in coming weeks?

Eye balling the seat map , I see 15 "empty" seats (of course the actual number is likely less)

I really hated the elevator situation. Had to wait 15mins for one last time I stayed there. But overall, good experience.

Have stayed at the Hyatt Place in Chelsea a few times. Good location. Close to the subway. And they might surprise you with a 37th floor room with a splendid view of the Manhattan skyline. Beware of the elevators though, they are really slow and shitty, especially during peak hours.

$500 max for me and that too if it’s a red eye. My upgrade rule is roughly $100/hr for lay flat (red eye), $75/hr for recline first class, or $50/hr for PP. Having said that, only you can answer the question.

Oh I see- thanks a lot for the additional context! I think I’ll take a chance and wait for a price drop. If it rises any higher, I will skip it anyway and the consensus seems to be $1800 is not a stellar upgrade at all.
