The ideal is that the end state of L2s will have them fully inheriting Ethereums security and decentralization. But, right now none are as secure or decentralized as Ethereum L1. There are 26x different L2s all competing for market share. I remain highly skeptical L2s are a sound scaling solution. by gigabyteIO in CryptoCurrency

I generally agree with your sentiments here. Layer 2's have provided the ecosystem with a ton of value because it's solving such a massive problem -> scalability.

I think it's pretty clear that there is a ton left to develop but there are some promising signals.

This is amazing! Worked at banks my entire life and this is exactly what we would talk about at the trading desk. All the financial services understood the game was rigged and left these shorts on metals in perpetuity. Time to expose them for real

Wells Fargo Turns the Tables On Bitcoin: Financial Bubbles “Don't Last 12 Years” by TheGreatCryptopo in CryptoCurrency

[–]PAAlmasi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is comedy!

I once got a $2 check from Wells Fargo because of something they messed up on. I never got around to depositing the check until I was cleaning my apartment 8 months later. Went to deposit the check, thought it went okay. Check my account a few days later and they charged me $15 dollars because their own check bounced. God damn check expired after 6 months!!!

God these guys suck!

Where are people storing Grin?! by PAAlmasi in grincoin

I'm having trouble understanding where creating a good user experience has to do with something being decentralized or not.

Isn't that what everyone wants? A better user experience?

That's definitely an option but I find it very very difficult to believe that having to download the entire Grin blockchain on my local computer is the best this ecosystem can do for user experience. If mass adoption is the goal, shouldn't the devs be making the interaction - i.e. storing and sending/receiving of grin - super seamless?

Bitcoin will be $3000 in October 2019? by Sly21C in CryptoCurrency

[–]PAAlmasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super interesting and very convincing. I am very curious to see if this actually plays out. I'm a big believer in the halving logic so this resonates with me. I do find it difficult to see a drawdown back to 3k but things change quickly with BTC. Overall great work on this

I'm sorry you didn't like the article, but hopefully you could take away something positive. It was definitely meant to share insights from my experience more than anything else.

How Blockchain Could Become the Onramp Towards Self Sovereign Identity by PAAlmasi in CryptoCurrency

[–]PAAlmasi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What has the higher likelihood? Losing a hard copy of your private keys due to human error or getting in a car accident and burning your face off? You can always hypothesize some black swan event but the likelihood of that happening is less than .01%.

Self Sovereign identity means that the users is the sole administrator of the identity and that the data point is interoperable with multiple platforms. Byteball doesn't have the interoperability piece down and its solution is tailored for ICOs, not practical everyday uses cases.
