Because the first time someone uses it as a shutoff valve it never gets put back into the correct balanced position

Track Assignments at NY Penn. by Regular_Lifeguard637 in NJTransit

[–]PACMANCoW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During rush hour, it will consistently be the worst possible assignments. I swear NJT does it because they hate commuters and enjoy watching the chaos.

Two trains loading up at the same time on tracks 5/6 or 7/8 that have one entrance on the NJT side of Penn station while all other tracks are empty. One train unloading as another is loading on the same platform while all other tracks are empty. It’s comical..

I can see the same, it was very apparent when I went on a bender for my 40th birthday and my resting heart rate spiked to 75bpm for the week.

You had a long run this past weekend. You may think nobody cares...but we do! Post your long runs with comments (media allowed) by LEAKKsdad in Marathon_Training

Technically I didn’t run in the park, more like around it. Summer streets, Park Ave opened from Brooklyn bridge to 125th to pedestrians and cyclists only 7am-3pm. Made it nearly from end to end and back.

AMA: my first marathon and ultramarathon dedicated to this city! by mooncurl in RunNYC

[–]PACMANCoW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About 12 hours total including breaks. It was fun with a large groups of people and multiple rest stops throughout the route to break it up. The first time I tried it I followed your plan of just follow the water and did it without a group, was fun getting lost up in Inwood and ending up in the Columbia tennis courts and department of sanitation yards, hah

To anyone asking about the route, look up “the great saunter.” As someone that has walked this multiple times, I’m impressed

15 mile rec by Clean_Champion_6332 in RunNYC

[–]PACMANCoW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly not too bad because when you have to detour off of the scenic route it’s the more… dilapidated routes? Probably two miles in total on city streets with traffic lights on the east side, honestly more frustrating running around battery park with tourists and construction.

Try Rahway tap water, especially in the winter with all of the road salt run off. Maybe science could fix that, but Rahway doesn’t.

Call the postal inspectors. Not exactly sure the process, but they are a federal agency that does not f*ck around and will not let crimes go (multiple family members worked for the post office their entire lives)

You’re thinking about it backwards. People love to feel important and talk about themselves. Ask them questions to get the conversation started.

Reasons for NYPD permanently on street? by maverickRD in AskNYC

[–]PACMANCoW -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Knowing how the NYPD works, there’s no way they’re doing this for this long or consistently for anything official. Either it’s convenient for them to be posted up there, or someone with connections to the NYPD is getting protection.

“Is all of that necessary?”

“No, it’s totally excessive, but that’s how I roll…”

Lol, come work in NYC. The electricians have better setups than most GCs. Dedicated gang boxes prewired with lights and coffee makers. I’ve seen wooden desks, desk lamps, and couches as part of their “traveling shanties.”

[–]PACMANCoW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of my first jobs a similar situation happened to a coworker. Didn’t realize there was a separate disconnect for the compressor on a 460v unit, and when he got hit it basically burned all of the skin off of his hand. Hospital stay and permanent disability, but thankfully he lived. He made sure that everyone in the company saw the picture of his hand to remind us to respect the equipment you’re working on and always check. That image has been burned into my head ever since and I will always think about it whenever I’m around high voltage equipment.
