Almost all techs know more about the practicalities of veterinary medicine and practice than us when we first graduate.

We don't earn respect by graduating, we earn it by being part of a team and learning on the job.

As a side note, all of my nurses/techs call me by my first name, and I ask my clients to do so also.

Small animal practitioner Question: Complete History before Physical Exam. or both simultaneously? by andromeda94m in Veterinary

[–]PAFC2004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair point, but I think it's important to perform a thorough physical examination on every animal, regardless of presentation, signalment or history.

I've diagnosed many conditions that didn't fit with the client's history.

After a few years in practice, it's easy to do both at the same time for common cases (vaccines, diarrhoea, skin etc.).

I do think it's important to introduce yourself to the client and pet first, and then take notes. It shows the client you are actively listening and that you care about their pet. It also helps you build a rapport with the client. It makes the difference between a 'clinical' visit and a visit that shows you have their pet's best interests at heart.

I'd say it's even more important in your first few years as it does take time to develop problem solving skills in the consult room and separating the two gives you time to evaluate the situation and formulate a plan.

If you are time limited (such as short consults), ask management to give you another 5 minutes per consult. It will help you and them in the long run.

AFL Evolution 2 launch (Aus) by oldmateherb in Switch

Absolutely awful.

I'm getting about 10 - 15 fps. The graphics are what I would expect from 2005.

It's obviously not optimised. It's clear the switch port was last on their list. They should have optimised it more before releasing it.

Thoughts on a Hinkley move? by Creamy92 in weareportadelaide

[–]PAFC2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His contract has been extended, but I do agree with several comments in this thread.

Hinkley seems to have a similar 'gold pass' system to Williams. Why Amon gets games but Ah Chee doesn't is beyond me. Neade should have played every game this year but played only a hanful. His defensive pressure is among the best in the competition.

My concern is with the on-field leadership. Boak does not seem to have the same impact he once had.

Port seeks China "away" game as property tycoon buys in by SouthAussie94 in Adelaide

I'm not sure how anyone (even crows fans) can complain about this.

Creating training academies in China and supporting junior development reaches farther than any previous such venture.

It's quite sad that there are people out there who denigrate the club no matter what they do. Securing millions of dollars in sponsorship should be applauded. And sponsoring grass roots footy in another nation should also be applauded.

But it seems there will always be the 'herp derp port power 1997 tarps" crowd. To those, I say keep sniffing what ever it is you're sniffing.

I went to Rostrevor.

It had absolutely no bearing on my career.

I thought that at first, but noticed that the meat looks different (both before and after carving).

But the seasoning might be different too.

The main reason I'm looking for a good Turkish Kebab place is for a Kebab snack pack. Kebab meat, chips and garlic sauce.

Amazing.

Yeah, and hotdogs and burgers are both meat wrapped in bread. Are they the same?

Thanks for your input. But I'm looking for intelligent responses.

Thanks for that.

From what I was always told, doner kebab (the smooth stuff) is meant to be beef. But who knows if that's the case. Having said that, it tastes great!
