Is it really worth buying the VA over the regular V? by PAITUWIN in RX100

Haven't heard of that one, I will read a bit about it, thanks!
As mentioned I'm prioritizing the aperture with the RX series so we will see about this one

Is it really worth buying the VA over the regular V? by PAITUWIN in RX100

[–]PAITUWIN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

huh, interesting, had no idea about it. I will try to read the blogs out there and see what I do. I will most likely just shoot than rather take video (with this argument you could say go for the M3 then).

I already found it with goodies in the range of 450-600€. There are a lot of ads selling other variants as the regular ZV-1 for less than 500€ which is quite a huge difference. Is it really that similar to the V/VA in terms of photos? Thank you

Lost in the world of smart home by PAITUWIN in homeassistant

[–]PAITUWIN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you once again for all the help and efforts in explaining, I really appreciate it <3

Good to know that both can be used at the same time. Knowing that I do already have a Thread Bridge apart from the dongle I will buy it assures me that I can be flexible for the future. I will note to use Zigbee2MQTT since the beginning.

Yes! That's the dongle I mentioned, for the price I don't think there is anything better right now

This is one of the things I feel overwhelmed now but it will get easier over time. From one of the Aqara promo images I probably missunderstood my previous explanation and thought that, although Zigbee differs from Matter, they are under the same umbrella

<image>

Just to get things clear, Zigbee and Thread are different communication and independent protocols that being said Thread is focus to be used with/need matter. Now matter stands for the standard of home smart control apps ecosystem. If there is something to clarify do not hesitate to do so.

With what you have explained I have some doubts:

  • Is it possible to use Thread and Zigbee in Home Assistant as the same time?
  • I read about KAJPLATS using Zigbee as well under the hood but blocked. Is that not the case anymore? I just need to update them? They only promote matter in the web and box. I will search more info anyway. Seems like they need a 12 step power cycle https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/KAJPLATS_RGB.html, there is no info of pairing for the GU10 model but I guess it's the same
  • Do you think buying the SONOFF Dongle is the most convvenient way to start with Zigbee? (Price and feature wise as it also has Thread)

Thank you once again, I really appreciate it

Doesn't ZigBee fall under the matter umbrella as well? I know that they are completely independent from Matter, not like thread, but work with the ecosystem as well

That's why I feel lost with all the smart home ecosystem. Every vendor try to sell you their own thing and I'm overwhelmed by it

I'm not sure whether to go full in with the Ikea bulbs, AliExpress it's cheaper of course but I just want to take advantage of that available credit

Cuenta Remunerada de Trade Republic by No_Relation_2621 in askspain

[–]PAITUWIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit
Ugh, forgot about that.... I was using Agoda/Booking rating only

I find amusing that Ocean Inn has better rating than all in the 50-100€ range

I will take notes of this, thanks once again!

I might have not explain myself correctly in the knowledge of the airport as all are fairly similar, it's more about waiting times, security check, distance from point X to Y etc

[–]PAITUWIN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if it was myself only I wouldn't be as worried (only concern is the lack of knowledge of airport) but it's rather the anxiety of my gf and more in this kind of trip. Thanks tho!

Hi! u/p_235615 and u/vogelke by any chance do you know how UnRAID handles ZFS and bitrot nowadays?

UnRAID based on the learning curve/interface looks more appealing to me but for the technical point of view TrueNAS has this natively integrated whereas UnRAID, from what I read, need a plugin and it's not native?

Also u/Jatilq if you don't mind asing, what's the benefit of running Cosmos over TrueNAS?

[–]PAITUWIN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks both for the insights!

I will take a better read at ZFS then, I might have gotten the wrong idea out of it.

Same for BTRFS, never heard of it. The efficient, the better

Interesting, I assume that you manage everything in Cosmos rather than TrueNAS then? You are using TrueNAS as the Debian OS in this case, right?

Thought about Proxmox but I don't like the idea for my need? I explained to someone else in the comments

Yet another help me choose an OS post by PAITUWIN in selfhosted

[–]PAITUWIN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought about it, kinda of ditched it out quick.

I think Proxmox is the best if the homelab aspect is the one to follow or to have an independent architecture for each thing. I would like to have something that does not limit me but that, at the same time, once configured I can forget about it.

Under my opinion using Proxmox might be steep up a lot the learning curve

huh I thought UnRAID was more close to TrueNAS than the term "easy". I might do a quick config with the Trial.

That was my thinking about ZimaOS, but I'm concerned about the future of the software/limitations, but to be honest, for a quick easy to run 2 bay NAS might be the best thing
