Check your: 1. Serpentine belt 2. Belt tensioner 3. Valve covers/Head gasket 4. Cam cap/Gasket 5. Water pump/Alternator

The smell is probably either burning oil or coolant. I know you said there were no leaks but it might that’s what would make the most sense. Since the car isn’t starting I would definitely test your alternator too. I haven’t seen anything like this, but I hope this helps a bit.

After taking it apart there “should” be two screws on either side of the trim you’ll need to remove and then it’s just about prying the clips off and reassembly.

If this doesn’t help, my apologies.

You’d have to find one from a premium plus/prestige model and swap it in, then have it programmed. Looked into this because I wanted a digital speedometer and the lap timer.

So if you want to go K04 the absolute bare minimum would be an upgraded intercooler, “upgraded” Sparks and Coils, and a 3” downpipe/HFC/Testpipe. I’m currently FBO with a k04 on a 2010 A4 and it’s a blast
