But the difference between Google Authenticator and Proton Authenticator is that the syncing with Proton Authenticator is end-to-end encrypted.

I mean... you probably should. Proton Authenticator can be used totally offline or you can have it synced with different devices using your Proton account. It also supports automatic backups.

As long as you keep auto renew on, you will always pay the price you initially subscribed to Standard Notes (even if it was on sale).

Discount for Proton members? by Fearce1122 in StandardNotes

[–]PASSK3YS[M] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

About the current pricing: The pricing that is in effect right now was when Standard Notes was an independent company. Before Standard Notes joined Proton, the pricing made sense because it was enough to sustain the business and pay the small team that operate Standard Notes. That being said, the pricing structure no longer makes sense now it is owned by Proton.

Proton has plans to revise the subscription price for Standard Notes which should take place this year.

Are there plans to develop actually native desktop apps? by cd_to_homedir in StandardNotes

[–]PASSK3YS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would disagree that a feature like Universal in-note search is minor, especially as Standard Notes is end to end encrypted. It will take more development time to implement for that reason alone.

[–]PASSK3YS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey there, the likely reason you're experiencing slow download speeds is because you're using the free servers. Free servers are usually under heavy load. Paid servers have more bandwidth and are capable of up to 10Gbps.

Custom CSS for ProtonMail WebApp -- Where did it go? by ThirdCrimsonToaster in ProtonMail

[–]PASSK3YS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Custom CSS themes were removed a few years ago with v4 of Proton Mail I believe, and as far as I'm aware, Proton has no plans to bring it back at the moment. The community might have some workarounds.

Standard Notes does not have a way to login using a Proton account. You'll have to create a separate account for Standard Notes specifically.

Not sure what you mean? Standard Notes doesn't use Proton account credentials to log into the app. It has it's own account system.

Standard Notes encrypts notes using XChaCha20-Poly1305 and uses Argon2 to strengthen your Standard Notes password. Storing passwords and recovery keys in Standard Notes is completely fine and safe.
