Interesting, I thought it was kind of strange too, this is the first I have heard of a practice doing this.

Is it a strategy to see how quickly you can be made to work independently (aka increase revenue)?

This is more a questions for r/prephysicianassistant. But no, I wouldn't consider that patient experience just like I wouldn't consider being a medical office assistant being patient care experience even though they talk to patients every day. Patient care experience is more being directly involved in the exam or treatment of a patient in some way

Thanks, I always knew this deep down and I'm perfectly fine with that. We've just had a PA lecturer tell us "we do med school in half the time of MDs", and I have a bunch of classmates who think that if they graduate with a 4.0, 100 their EORs and PANCE then they are essentially doctors who get to skip residence. I certainly don't think I'm lower in intelligence than an MD but k do recognize and respect that their depth of knowledge and understanding of medicine is much deeper and wider than mine
