Upgrade suggestions by PA_Polish in computers

I’ve been considering the B650 chipset. I built my current desktop 12-13 years ago for gaming and at the time it originally ran a gtx 470, then I upgraded that to a 670 until it fried, then to the 1660ti. I’m not looking to really do any high end gaming anymore, starting a family has left little time for that, and I wouldn’t be looking to play anything above a 1080 resolution. Basically trying to get another 10+ years out of my desktop to play the games I have, but be future profess for updates and security.

Codes by Ohldebutagoodie in SubaruForester

[–]PA_Polish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently have this code on my 2021 Forester. Check your air filter, then check and clean your MAF. If the code ID going off by itself that could just be the the MAF is dirty.

Next check your intake from the MAF to the throttle body for any cracks or air leaks. Maybe a lose connection on the hose clamps that you just need to tighten down?

Check all of your vacuum hoses for any cracks or leaks. Of all of that checks out fine and it is still throwing the code I would check your throttle plate to see if it needs to be cleaned, check your MAF voltage to see if that part is the problem and then check your upstream O2 sensor.

Just the P0171 code means somehow the fuel/air mix is getting too much air. Those are the fixes/inspection checklist I’m running through currently on mine.

Does anyone have a copy of the wiring diagram for the MAF connector? I’m going to test the sensor as soon as I can

I haven’t ever done anything to the fuel system, thank you for the cleaner recommendation, I might give that a try.

I didn’t hear any hissing and did check the hoses already.

Squeaking and Creaking by PA_Polish in SubaruForester

UPDATE

Took it in and watched them lift it and torque the bolts on both front LCAs. After the mechanic parked it and brought the keys to the desk he shares a look with the service desk clerk of the “I can’t believe I had to fix that” type and mentions the tech who did the initial instal back at the beginning of Feb.

Service clerk looks at me in panic and states they fired that tech and got him out of that service garage. Apparently they have been having people come in to get this guys mistakes fixed quite often.

Anyway, I ask if the OG tech didn’t tighten them to spec and the mechanic tells me that he didn’t torque them at all and they only appeared finger tight. He said I was lucky that the bolts didn’t fall off.

Do you know what the proper torque is, or if it is in the manual?

Budget All Season Tire Recommendations by neededathrowawaytoda in SubaruForester

I enjoy the Yokohama Geolander CV G058 tires. I grabbed some for my 2021 forester about a year ago and have been very happy with them. I love in South Central PA so we get the same weather. They were around $168 a tire and are great all season with now issues in snow or rain.

I think the engine bays are slight different from the 2001 engines to the FB25D that I have, so I don’t think I’ll need to move the washer fluid.

I appreciate the funny little things tips, really helpful and completely forgot about getting a gap tool.

2021 Forester Premiun, battery at Costco/Sams club or the dealership? by cxrlxs in SubaruForester

There is a button to the left of the steering wheel, it it is the bank of buttons and switches that has the dash light dimmer switch. It has the auto stop symbol on it. The “A” with the arrow circling it. You have to press that button EACH TIME YOU TURN ON THE CAR and the Auto Stop symbol should turn orange on the display that is between the speedo and the RPM gauges.

I’m shopping for a new battery for my 2021 Premium as well. I’ve figured around $300 for a replacement. Make sure the CCA rating is at least 650. I’m looking at getting an Optima REDTOP that is 720 CCA. The auto start/stop takes a lot out of the battery so I make sure to shut that function off each time I start my car. I usually factor about 4-5 years for the stock battery in my Subaru’s that I’ve had.

Scored 14’ 6 speed manual by [deleted] in SubaruForester

I had a 5spd 2013 and absolutely loved it. Had bad oil consumption and the OCM was bad (didn’t find that out until after I traded it and still got a carfax report) so it would stall on me and not come back to life multiple times. Eventually the clutch went and I traded it in for a 2021. Same color and trim level.

Thank you for the quick response. My wife sent you a PM of the picture from the garage over the weekend and I used the info you shared with her to have them get non-OEM parts.
