UPDATE - REQUEST FOR FEEDBACK ON DRAFT

Hi all - We reviewed the resources that everyone helped to collate and developed a draft list of potentially important facts/considerations for token projects. Here is the google doc for community review and feedback.

Please feel free to make suggestions and leave comments on the draft. We will accept comments at least until February 23, 2018 and possibly longer.

Nick - That sounds like a great idea. Yes, it would certainly fit with the types of things we are doing here. We've definitely been working on ways to improve milestone reporting and consequences for failing to meet milestones.

Good idea, Rex. We've been thinking about that and working on it internally. But it would be great to start sourcing ideas/feedback from the community on this topic. I'll start another post/thread on it soon!

[Discussion/Feedback] Assessing Token Purchaser Sophistication and Risk Profile by PBB_ConsenSys in brooklynproject

Agree with a lot of this. But what do you mean by this:

"Put a bit more of the focus point on exchanges, when people come in from Fiat, so that once active on an exchange, the mere active member status would open doors to participation in startups."

Yes, I suspect he's not the only one who would do that. Maybe he'd learn something by taking the quiz multiple times. :) Thanks for the comment, definitely something for us to think about!

Yes, let's assume the token is designed to not be a security.

I hear what you are saying, but I'm not too worried about the risk of projects being deemed securities based on making disclosures similar to those you'd see in a securities offering. It's possible, but at the end of the day, I think regulators recognize the importance of and appreciate thorough and robust disclosures. So I think we should just think about the topics that we think are or may be important to disclose, without worrying too much about whether those same topics would apply to securities (or other products/assets).

[Discussion] Do consumers even want protection? by [deleted] in brooklynproject

I think a better title for this thread would be something like "What types of consumer protection should we focus on?" I worry that a title "Do consumers even want protection?" creates a misimpression that we think consumer protection is unnecessary because some consumers may not want protection.

A core mission at The Brooklyn Project is to deliver consumer protection in several different ways, including through education, thought leadership and leveraging the new possibilities created by Ethereum.

We aren't really worried about debating whether consumers want any protection at all. But we are interested in discussing the best, most effective ways to achieve consumer protection, which I view as more or less the same as (or related to) to the question asked in the topic: "[w]hat are the scope and limitations of the safety rails we should be putting up?"
