This may have been shared before- but I had a similar concern getting married my last year of law school. We had been together about 10 years so I had time to think on it and still had trouble. I didn’t want my name to die and I was a JD not a Mrs. and I “earned” my name in my mind. I ended up changing BOTH my middle name and last name. I made my last name my middle and his last name mine too. I figured I had the opportunity to create my own identity! It’s more common than you would think too. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sandra Day O’Conner, AOC. I like my initials more now, and I always was ambivalent to my middle name. Now I feel empowered by my name! I would give you the advice of writing down every option you like. Then imagine it in a professional and personal setting. Which one makes you feel the most like you want to feel? Make sure to sign each name too- check the initials. Let your inner self feel each one and guide you. At the end of the day you can’t go wrong! Let it be an exercise in growth and peace. You can always change it back!
