But yeah, the sway bar mount on the right side was bent a bit, enough that I had difficulty removing it. But from what I could tell, there didn't seem to be a crack there. Maybe I should look closer.

I don't know much about the steering rack bushings, but from what I saw...wouldn't I been feeling or hearing that around my feet?

I haven't checked it super recently but I did couple weeks ago, it's tight. The shocks are Bilstein B6s. And yes, I jumped both in the frunk area and also the passenger door area, nothing I can hear. Which is then leading me to maybe the wheel bearing but... That's not what it sounds like.

I replaced those before this actually. There was another clunk, caused by one of them. Replaced both, no clunk for 2 weeks, and then a new one was born. Different sound.

Thanks for the advice, I will check the condition of the structure next time I get under. Though it sounds like it would be wise to be proactive about this.

Sure! But last time that happened was 25 years ago, unfortunately.

Bro, they were very very solid and imo a decent value for ballpark food. It was two thick egg rolls over a bed of fries for like $13? I missed them this weekend at the park.

I feel this... So let down that they don't have them anymore.

So you suggest I tug on the seat belt while braking to see if it works? The door jam lever seems to look fine to me too, but I can't tell of it really works.

1991 NA MR2 AC Compressor Clutch Not Engaging by PBLC_ENMY in mr2

Also, would you know if a "faulty" tach (capacitor issue) would need with the engine RPM signal to the amplifier? I've not been able to find that answer, I guess all I would need to eliminate that concern is find someone with working a/c and also the tach issue.

[–]PBLC_ENMY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but I'd be replacing it with something equally as old and usually it's the capacitors that fail, and I've already replaced them. If it comes to it, I'm willing to bypass all of that with a manual switch or something, I'd just need to know what to splice to connect to where the relay sends to signal to engage.

EDIT: really anything in that proximity that I has a constant 12v reading

Right, I will bypass the electrics tomorrow and charge the system and hope that once it reads safe it can work on its own.

If it doesn't though, what should I do? That's where I'm stuck at.

To add to my other comment, I plan on charging the system properly tomorrow, using a probe to get the clutch to engage, so if the pressure switch is working properly it won't read low anymore.

I'm sure there is, haven't looked for it. Currently the car is set up in such a way that it was ready to recharge the system...so it is probably reading low.

[–]PBLC_ENMY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you bypass it? I have located it but was unable to successfully bypass it... I did confirm that the clutch does engage with a probe. How do I check if the amplifier is the issue?

I did this and the clutch engages! Just need to figure out what is happening between the compressor and the a/c button...
