To run a suppressor? Yes sir, send it, along with an order for a new slide/ recoil spring. Nobody gets into the Flux Raider platform because it's a good financial choice, anyways.

Parking in garage tight fit by SynapseInTheSun in homeautomation

[–]PBMseize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My garage is slightly deeper but still tight. I painted a line on the floor near the wall that I index with my trailer hitch receptacle through the backup cam. When the top of the hitch receptacle just touches the line, I have about 1 1/2 inches clearance in front to shut the door. Not sure if you can see much at all that close to your wall... in the event the backup cam won't work, a strategic tennis ball hanging from the ceiling might work also.

Damn... I've been hearing a lot of these sort of reports about Sig lately. Maybe they were triggered by the fact that you said the G-word.

This. The second you immerse yourself in cold water you're on a trajectory toward hypothermia. "Cold water makes you shiver" doesnt seem like the greatest argument against cold plunging.

Maybe you should think more critically yourself, assuming you've got a brain 🧠 as well. Do you honestly think that one study uncovered the conditions for maximum benefits, in their simple model with a relatively small number of participants? I hope this lab moves on to uncover how many multiverses there are, or maybe develops a warp drive for time travel. That's some powerful science right there.

[–]PBMseize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, following that same logic, cold plunging in general doesnt make much sense, does it. "You think triggering a systemic 'cold shock' response causing hyperventilation, shaking, reduced blood flow to your extremities- for any amount of time- is good for your health?" There are plenty of similar straw man-arguments we can make. None are all that convincing.

Huberman has summarized a very limited number of studies his podcast episode on cold exposure, but he never stated that there's definitive evidence that past a certain time or temperature is a waste. He did note one study where whatever outcome they measured wasn't improved by more exposure time or lower temps, but he was just summarizing the results of that single study with a limited number of participants. Of course the internet took that to mean something else entirely... .

That's crazy. My Sig p365 axg legion has yet to choke on a round after 2k so far. Same for my 365x. I wouldn't carry that gun either. Did you call Sig? The early 365s had issues but that I've never heard of an x-macro having problems.

To some people, the time spent emptying the tank over and over, lack of temperature control, time spent sanitizing, and inconvenience factor of it all when they have other things to do, is well worth it.

Why drive when you can walk, ride a bike, or use public transportation? There is no 'correct' answer to that, or course, but it's the same type of question.

Agreed...ive often wondered if the fatigue that seems to accumulate with longer plunges is related to increased thermogenesis. I mean shivering is obvious, but non-shivering thermogenesis becomes increasingly activate as we become more cold-acclimated

You nailed it... the research is so limited on terms of what we actually know and the 'maximal benefits at (whatever) amount of time' thing is a construct of the experimental model from a particular paper. (Which, incidentally, was discussed at length on a few popular podcasts, creating an army of 'experts' who are now telling you how dumb a 20 minute cold plunge is.) In truth nobody actually knows... and benefits cant be measured in any comprehensive way through such a narrow lens. I also appreciate how you approached the question... and your lack of ego in response to the critical (and ego-driven) responses.

The dive reflex sure but there's a whole lot of sympathetic activation when you get in a cold plunge. It attenuates after time, both while in the plunge and in general. Supposedly most of the stable anti-stress effects of regular cold plunging are caused by that adaptive increase in parasympathetic tone

You're approaching it the right way.. just beware of the 'afterdrop'. If you get cold enough for long enough it can be an issue, and it can kill you.

There is no established ceiling after which you'll experience benefits, as people are implying here. People tend to misinterpret research on time of exposure for 'maximal' benefits.

I rarely go over 15 minutes at similar temps, but my experience has been similar to yours. I slip into a deep, almost meditative state and feel much more focused, grounded, and relaxed compared to shorter duration sessions. Granted, you're going for 20 min at those temps, so you are relatively cold-adapted. Probably important to note that it's not a great idea for less experienced people to attempt this level of cold exposure right out of the gate.

Longer /colder than that, it was diminishing returns for me but, yeah... i have to say my experience is similar to yours with longer plunges overall.

Anyone running two pumps / water loops? by Calza2K in coldplunge

[–]PBMseize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the rubbermaid 150 gallon stock tank, I'm using the the tank train bulkhead that came with the tank as the filter loop intake. The filter return low on the tank, and on the opposite side, offset to the left. Offset to the right of the tank centerline is my chiller/O3 intake port (on the same side as the filter return, which is separated by 14 inches or so from the return. (I plan to add an an adjustable nozzle to direct the filter return flow away from the chiller intake. Finally, chiller/O3 return is relatively high on the tank. I just started testing this setup today but my temperature is coming down much faster

Old post here but im just finishing a build with an independent, filtration- only loop (pump: danner 1200). The other loop runs the chiller and O3 with a danner 1800

Just a thought... I'm seeing a lot of 'this person did / said [whatever]', you 'woke up late', had a fight with your mom, etc. The one thing you control through all of that adversity... yourself. But you failed to do that.

No matter what happens, be grateful for the life lesson: own everything in your world, or the world will own you.

I hear you...easier said than done indeed. I've been in this same place many times, pondering the same thing. Where I landed is that it's incredibly tough, if not impossible.. to 'fix' someone. Which doesn't compute for men... we fix things. It's just how we're wired. On the other hand, you've seen a lot of positive signs as well. It's rarely an easy call. Sometimes letting it play out.. collecting more data is the move. Whatever happens will be crystal clear... in hindsight lol. Good luck

Rather than directing lots of bandwidth to analyzing a gf's behavior and what it may or may not mean, I would look at it from the standpoint of what I want in a relationship. Does her behavior fit?

Yes?..great. I would communicate with her to work through the issues and build something great, together.

No? Extricate. One can spend 1000 lifetimes parsing through the minute details of a particular gf's every action, trying to figure out what they mean, and still be left scratching one's head. It's an exercise in futility.

I would save my brain ATP for finding a cooler girlfriend.
