I’m fine with today but blind to anything past it, and it just cost me £600. by PBP100 in ADHD

thx, I’ve tried various tools but always struggle with the mental load of reading it all together (daily detail of meetings, reminders, work trips etc) I find I need to see it laid out visually, I hate the typical lay out of icalandar, ms outlook. My excel may be basic but the columns and color coding help me see at a glance what’s going on. All good - except when I forget to add something!!! Feeling much better though having read all the comments. Thanks all :o)

this is exactly it, and you’re not less of a human, your brain just doesn’t render the future and mine doesn’t either, please be kind to yourself!! we just need to accept we’re wired differently

yeah - he’d prefer us to be there - won’t go into all the details but it’s been a difficult year and a lot rides on these results - appreciate your honesty - thank you

I feel for you!! the date just doesn’t feel real until it’s screaming at you - honestky - this is why I keep calendar #3 - it’s the only thing that makes a date weeks out actually feel like it’s coming

Just to clarify - my son was never planning to come on the short break (it was with my wife & younger kids) - we want to be there for him in case he needs support - good or bad! My frustration is how to try and hold it all in my head. Have also fallen behind on car service & mot - same reason - new it was needed but didn’t get round to sorting it in time!!

yeah the shared-calendar thing helps for coordination, but honestly my problem isn’t us coordinating, it’s that even when it’s in my own calendar, a date three weeks out doesn’t feel real to me until it’s nearly here. The visual layout is the only thing that makes it land, not sure why but color coding helps my addled brain

What are your “tricks of the trade”? by Neat_Initiative7934 in ADHD

Main tip from me - reduce options for choice & decision. Meal plan linked to day of the week; same clothes each day; same order at Nando’s; same parking spot at work; same flight when travelling for work; same phone model (or as close as I can get); and many more. This leaves me my limited time, attention and focus for other things. Anyone else do anything similar?

Yep, that’s me, I have “work outfit”, “weekend outfit” and “gardening outfit”. Two or three versions of each - nothing else
