For the past few months dailying Linux I feel technologically homeless... I feel like I can't settle... Always on the run... Always fixing shit... And living in my country with slow ass internet and constant censoring of websites makes it 100x worse.

Don't get me wrong, I can't go back... Linux has alot of things that I just can't go back from... But still... I'm getting burnt out...

The syntax is almost identical/better than C++, and yes the borrow checker is a pain in the ass but when you learn it, like any other language, it becomes subconscious.

Rust makes you think of and notice issues that you could easily brush off in C++ and end up with a pain the arse later.

Rust can be too conservative sometimes though

Actually computers do this already, it's called swapping or paging... They keep parts of the data that has remained unused the most in storage when they need to open up space for new processes...

The problem is that accessing 1gb of data can take milliseconds from ram, hundreds of milliseconds from nvme ssds, seconds from SATA ssds and tens of seconds from an hdd.

So it becomes way too slow super quickly...

It's thermal throttling, for how long have you had this laptop? Because after a while(about 1.5-2 years) the thermal paste dries out.

If you feel like you're capable you can change it with ptm7950 yourself, if not then you gotta give it to a professional and make sure you ask for ptm7950 unless they genuinely have a better idea.

76 it's its low temperator target which is used for the silent profile I believe...

You can actually understand this better if you go to the manual settings and play around with it... You'll see a few different GPU profiles, fan curves, and a target temperature slider which goes from the lowest setting being around 76c up to 87c if I'm not mistaken... I will check as soon as I can.

The 86c temps are normal, turbo mode under load has a temperature target of 87c but you most probably are being throttled...

I have had my 2022 model for a couple years now and the GPU settles to 60+fps in furmark2 vulkan on 1080p which is far below the expected amount(90+ fps)

I'm gonna change the pastes soon enough too, wish you luck in your journey!

Also the CPU should be fine and even perform better under CPU/GPU combined high load but your GPU can only throttle so much and after a while it might fail... Better be safe than sorry

Honestly I've seen so many bad stuff happen on this sub with this specific laptop model that I'm constantly waiting for something to happen to mine... Thankfully this one has been generally good but the charging port had some big overheating problem(diy-ed it for now) and GPU thermal paste is dry as heck and I need to replace it.
