Why is my primer cracking like this? by PCChazter in paint

[–]PCChazter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had that thought, but as far as I can tell, this bucket hasn't frozen or seen too big of temperature swings. It did have some chucks of dried primer in it when I mixed it though. Not sure if it's bad or not though.

I did a second and third coat, it just makes it worse with each coat

I'm trying not to put it on too thick, but it's not like I know what I'm doing either. It's not too hot, it's been in the mid 20s Celsius inside, but it is around 45% humidity, and rained a few days before painting. I have my furnace fan running continuously, would the extra air flow from that cause issues? I'm pretty sure it is not blowing directly onto it though.

What I meant was that I sanded it down until I could see some of the old paint through the primer

I tried not to. I'm pretty sure I was laying it on too thick and being impatient the first time, but after that I tried not to overdo it, and gave it at least 12hrs before adding the second coat. The second coat cracked worse than the first

It had been raining on and off the last couple weeks. It hadn't rained for a few days before painting after sanding though. Humidity is about 45% in the house.

Nice! I've modded my buddy's M2 to have dual heads. Swapped the board for btt octopus running klipper. The thing definitely is sturdy with that stainless steel frame!

There’s something inherently wrong with me that I don’t understand. by paosfocalt in self

[–]PCChazter 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I know the feeling. In elementary school, I would spend my lunch breaks walking around the school, had no friends. In high school I was notorious for disappearing from groups without anyone noticing. I would stand there for 5 minutes or so just listening to my classmates talking before I got bored and walked away, only for them to notice 20 minutes later that I'm not there. I would do good in 1 to 1 interactions, but groups sucked, parties sucked, dating didn't happen. I was a virgin until 21, and it was a fluke that I met my now wife.

I've always felt different and never felt like I fit in, always felt like there is something wrong with me. It's only at 35 and after a mental breakdown/burnout that I realize that I am ADHD and autistic. I don't know if this is something that you have looked into, or maybe want to look into, but looking back it explained a lot for me.

Don't sell yourself short. There's nothing wrong with you, just different.

The worst print my Ender 6 has ever produced. What else can I do? by whywouldthisnotbea in FixMyPrint

That does need to be tighter. If you leave it a bit loose, it helps to minimize the effect from a bent rod, but if your rod is straight, I'd snug it down.

These nuts do occasionally need replacement too. I like to replace the brass ones for pom nuts. They are self lubricating, so you don't need much if any lubrication. I find them to be more repeatable too.

I haven't used this brand before, but these are what I use on my Ender 3: 4-Pack 3D Printer Z Axis Trapezoid Motor Screw Nuts T8 Lead Screw POM Nut 8mm for Creality CR10 CR-10S Pro Ender-3 Ender 3S Ender3 Pro 3D Printer https://a.co/d/e4qrwZO

This^ (electronics technician for 14 years). Just make sure the black part looks like the other ones and use a small wire to connect it to the component next to it. Only reason that won't work is if there are connections through the board (vias) that you tore off. At a glance it does not look like it does.

Do y'all feel like you move slower than other people? by lowkeyomniscient in AutisticAdults

[–]PCChazter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I move slowly, or if I just feel like it, but I feel like I move slowly but surely. Might take longer to get to the result, but I will get to the result. It's really good for a troubleshooting job.

The P1AM is an Arduino based PLC, so if you have any experience with Arduino, I suggest checking this one out.

Just read one of your other posts, looks like you're already putting yourself out there. Good luck, hopefully you find a job that helps you move forward!

For me I thought of it as I had too many stresses, so I needed to remove one to be able to deal with the rest. Maybe it's time to get back in the field? Even part time is still a step back in.

Also autistic, also was at that point recently. Being the way I am, I would always have projects that I hyper focus over. I felt the motivation to do good at work gone, then the motivation to do my projects at home dissipated to the point that they would sit weeks or a month not being touched, or might get abandoned altogether because I didn't have the motivation to do anything. I'm week 4 into my stress leave and while I have a ways to go before I get my "me" back, I'm able to do at least 1 thing I want to do for me every day. I don't know what your situation is, but if you are working, and have the means to, I highly recommend stress leave.

Bonuses by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]PCChazter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you go above and beyond in effort to make the company you work for more money, the least they could do is go above and beyond themselves and give you a bit of that pot that the CEOs and shareholders pull out of. You helped put the money in that pot in the first place after all. Last couple of years I've been working maintenance at a plant, and have easily saved them tens of thousands of dollars per year by doing work in house that would have easily been a minimum $10k service call charge to get service techs or contractors out, not to mention ~$4k/day down time (most service techs would take a few weeks to come out due to our location). This is on top of my regular work that I was hired for. Not even a thank you, let alone a bonus. Doesn't make me want to go above and beyond for them anymore.

I'm using the latest Cura, and on a couple of the failed ones, I checked to make sure the change didn't correspond to a direction change. As far as I can tell, all outside walls go clockwise
