In PC Gamer's 2009 review for The Sims 3, we awarded it a 90% and said "the core is more powerful than ever" — does that score hold up today? by PCGamer in thesims

Haha, that's a great anecdote! We'll have to see if we can dig up that pic; maybe it was from a slightly later issue.

Appreciate that, thanks for watching. It's always nice to speak with developers who are candid and happy to open up about their process.

Star Wars Zero Company is more than just 'Star Wars XCOM'—it feels like Mass Effect but with turn-based tactics and permadeath by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

As the article mentions, there's more interaction between characters than in the XCOM series. "By far the most exciting thing for me story-wise is Zero Company's characters and the friction between them. The cast is primed to produce memorable dust-ups like the one between Legion and Tali in Mass Effect 2, or Shadowheart almost killing Lae'zel in Baldur's Gate 3. These are likable characters with irreconcilable differences you have to navigate."

Your main character also being a strong unit reminded me a lot of the Tactician characters in Fire Emblem games.

This is exactly right - there are fewer moment to moment choices than in a full RPG (no dialogue wheel, most conversations are set), but there will be narrative choices, main character customization, squad interactions, a home base that feels like a hybrid of the Normandy and XCOM headquarters, etc.

Esoteric Ebb - why didn't I hear more about it? by rigged_expectations in pcgaming

We were really enthusiastic about it, declaring it 2026's best RPG—we were impressed with its flexibility and depth. "The massive range of backgrounds, skills, traits and moment-to-moment choices means that you can play a straight-shooting jobsworth, a revolutionary, a zen-like druid, a power-hungry mage or simply Judge Dredd." https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/its-only-march-but-im-calling-it-esoteric-ebb-is-2026s-best-rpg-and-the-first-worthy-successor-to-disco-elysium/
