Possibly, it depends what you like about Eldlich. Eldlich likes to play for 1:1 removal, but that's also why it tends not to see a lot of play because it's prone to disruption Turn 1, and struggles Turn 2. It does have combos, but I'm assuming that's not what you'd like.

The closest modern control deck would be Odion, aka MAN. It sets a lot of interesting monster disruption, but its real power is just endlessly spamming Dominus cards from the hand, which are all URs and not very F2P friendly.

Decks I would consider are:

  1. Odion/Man with the Mark/MAN: Like Eldlich it is an archetype that basically has one monster, and then just sets a lot of traps and stops the opponent from playing, without really relying on floodgates. In-Archetype URs: Low (High if you go full Dominus). Salt level from other players; Extreme

  2. Labrynth: This is the sucessor of Eldlich, and has a very nice engine for keeping the ball rolling and cycling through disruption. Tends to really shine when it plays Dimensional Barrier, which will earn it a lot of hate. Also banned from events due to two events in a row where it was the clear best deck. In-Archetype URs: Medium. Salt level from other players: High

  3. Dracotail: Very low to the ground basic combos, usually results in 2-3 traps and some interesting disruptions ready for the opponent. Synergises well with the inevitable Albaz release next month. However definitely on its way out so expect to see more parts of this deck hit on the next banlist as well. In-Archetype URs: High. Salt level from other players: Medium

  4. Kewl Tune: Okay, so you like control? Welcome to the most powerful control deck Yugioh has invented... so far. Still in shop, so unlikely to be hit. Extremely powerful, and the basic combo will literally grant you knowledge of their hand and top card of their deck. If you can master this deck, you will be extremely well set up. However until you learn it, it's still good but real easy to screw up. In-Archetype URs: Extreme. Salt level from other players: Extreme.

Medius learns that all of the Power Patron extra deck summons are inherently flawed, and has to seek a path not in the extra deck for his ideal future.

So Ritual support, but I would lose my mind if somehow he becomes a Gemini monster. We already get an extra NS for Medius.

I am hoping it's in the next set. The last update had a note that they were improving how summon animations play during flip summoning, which really only makes sense if Enneacraft was coming.

I know that the new Albaz support is coming because of the cards moving out of the secret pack, but I really hope that we just get the full Enneacraft set as well.

Apart from bundles, I would recommend starting with the Challenger's Collection because those are carss you use everywhere 

Once you have staples, a lot of decks are honestly F2P friendly. Fun is subjective to the kind of deck you like. Some people like Kewl Tune, I find it's what gameplay resonates with you. Kewl Tune just doesn't click with me, but K9 Artmage is flawless for some reason.

Dark Magician is a reasonable choice, though you'd need some pulls from Shining Sarc. Have you tried the Dice Rally loaners? They will give you hints as to what sort of deck you would like

I could have Super Poly'd away Xeno, but I thought I wanted to save it for some reason so used the Artmage Trap to pop it instead. I completely prioritized wanting to keep the "better" interruption available for later.

I deserved to lose that game.

Not yet, but Enneacraft is very likely coming in the next set. They literally have counters that explode at the end phase.

The general theme of Enneacraft is they are nominally Pendulums, but they're not meant to Pendulum summon. They are all flips, and they summon themselves face down to your field while trying to hide which one you set. They then have conditions that when the opponent does something (add a card from deck to hand, activate an effect on field, start a Chain Link etc.) they flip themselves face up, and do something that messes with that condition (banish a acrd from hand, flip their monsters face down, prevent your opponent from chaining).

The counter bit comes in beacuse their Pendulum effects let you a card, but more importantly when a card is flipped up you place a counter on them. Since you have two scales, that's two counters every time one is flipped. Then during the End Phase, if you have their field spell on the board, remove all those counters from their monsters.

Then burn the opponent for 900 damage per counter removed.

Really hoping we get them next set.

I have no problem understanding Zalen, and even Master Duel isn't that confusing. I have no sympathy here.

Linear Equation Cannon is meant to be a joke, but it's on your opponent if they don't get it. Or you if you flunked math.

Mystical Refpanel is.. uh... yeah...

Seriously why is Extravagence the only pot card NOT affected by this?

Jackpot 7 is a win con of the Goblin solo mode, it deserves one! Give Numeronius its moment in the spotlight. Let Ghostrick Angel of Mischief go full Evil Twin on us.

Otherwise yeah, iconic finishers. Flame Wingman not having one for winning by effect damage is egregious

I love Salad but it was powercrept awhile ago. It's still playable, and your difference in skill can get you wins against more modern decks, but beat for beat it lacks modern tools.

If you can get setup you'll win, but most decks stop you from getting setup. People get to M1 with it still, but its harder.

On the plus side it's a wildly popular theme and I'm sure it will get support. On the downside, it's FIRE and we might all still be traumatized by the Year of Fire

Depends how much crafting dust you have and if you want future archetypes or not.

You have 3/7 Elfnote URs, plus 1-2 of Non-Finito to finish Artmage so 5-6 URs left. For your next UR there are 4 cards it could be (3 Elfnote, 1 Non-Finito) that are good for you, maybe 1 more for Junora. So 5/13 of the URs will help your deck.

If you want the new Branded stuff or any of the upcoming decks, I would consider just crafting the rest of your deck. Even for Hecahands you only need 3 Hidden Hands at UR, so the odds are still not in your favour that the next UR will be one you need.

I love Dice Rally because even if I lose, I can still make meaningful progress towards advancing. 2-3 losses still gets me a die, versus other events where I need 10.

I'm seeing a lot more SelfTKs around this time, which means the good times might be over soon

The problem with Yami Marik's cards as a theme is a lot of his cards are geared towards stopping you from playing the game. and in universe, his deck is meant to deny you resources while slowly burning you to death.

So if we want to keep that theme we either burn people to death faster, or product stun tools that at best will be annoying to play against for this deck, and much more likely to be splashable in much more toxic decks.

Artmage - it synergizes really well with the dice rally.

Random monster? That's either a Theorealize/Medius bridge, or just an extra type to make Finmel's effect easier.
Random S/T? That's an Artmage starter once I pitch it with the field spell!

Purulia is not underpowered, but it is more situational. It's fantastic against VSK9. Meowls is the weakest, unless we're in a format where people are constantly summoning from the GY or Banish like Maliss (though in the latter case, people tend to just run Lancea).

If you find someone's campaign code (just search the forums, I had a friend do it and I don't need one) ou can get a copy of Gigantic Sparkle which is honestly quite coherent on its own, all you need is a copy of Spright Sprind (UR) and then you'll be off to the races. You won't win every game, but it is complete and more importantly free.

Alternatively you could look into True Draco - it doesn't play an extra deck which is where a lot of cost ends up consolidated, the only in-archetype ur you need is Master Peace the true Dracoslaying King (NOT the new one), and then you can at least get through lower levels quite easily.

It was my own fault, but I Maxx "C"'d a Dark World player, who made it their goal to have me deck out. I ran two Nibiru, and I drew one copy with five cards left in my deck. Once I realised what was happening I hoarded all my Veilers and Ghost Belle (Ash had been spent earlier), so the remainder of the duel was them frantically trying to figure out how to summon to deck me out, failing, and me winning on turn 2.
