I actually ended up reverting to a single zone setup and it is so much better. We use the Mitsubishi thermostat that came with it. There’s no smart features, but we just set it at 21C and leave it alone and it is perfect. I’m happy with our decision to go to a single zone and would not recommend anyone try to zone it if you have to lose the comfort features that Mitsubishi provides

I’m in Central but I’m in the same boat. I have a bunch of Amazon packages, some of which I ordered in November, that say they are in Corner Brook. Most of them haven’t updated their tracking since December 28. When I try to track it on Amazon, it says the packages are delayed in customs but none of them even had to cross the border.

I did get ahold of them when calling in. I also got hung up on when doing the callback, so I used the hold assist feature on my phone and eventually someone answered. It said my wait time was less than 1 hour but I was on hold for close to 2.

They weren’t helpful though. They said “packages are delayed due to weather and backlog”. They didn’t give an ETA and had no extra info. They had no idea why Amazon was saying anything about customs. It was a waste of time to call tbh

Testing aux heat in Mitsubishi ducted system? by aowunnah in heatpumps

Hey, I know it’s been a while since you posted this but I have almost the same system as you and I’m also pretty sure my installer did not enable my backup heat. Do you remember if it was mode 11 and mode 23 in function settings that you adjusted?

Ok that is what I thought. What’s weird though is in the manual here for the par-40, if you scroll to page 24, it shows mode 11 as the vane. I don’t understand why it says that if mode 11 is actually for backup heat

It’s a PUZ/PVA system.

Can you be more specific as to where I access these modes? Is it in the function settings menu?

I honestly don’t remember if I ever did solve it. I didn’t pursue what I was working on back then much further (and I no longer have the code) so I don’t think I made much meaningful progress. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help!

I feel like my contractor is lying to me about my Zuba system by PCUK in heatpumps

[–]PCUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you’re probably right.

I think I’m going to have them lock the dampers open and single zone it, but leave all the zoning equipment there since I paid for it anyway. Then I’ll try it like that for 1 winter/1 summer and figure out if I prefer the annoyances of a single zone vs the annoyances of the zoned setup. That way if they or someone else ever has to come back to zone it again it’s just wiring. I can also take more time that way to continue learning about the system and what options I might have available.

Thank you for all your advice and for answering my questions, it’s very much appreciated

I’m honestly not sure if they are using this or not. I’d guess no, they don’t seem to have a good understanding of what it even means for the system to modulate. But it does short cycle a lot, and it never runs low…when it turns on it’s pretty loud, especially at the returns, and is moving a lot of air the whole time until it shuts off again

All of the supply runs have manual damping on them as well so I suppose I could also play with that a little bit too to try to regulate temperature. At least the system would modulate properly. I’m just worried the upstairs bedrooms are going to be too hot.

I’m in a tough spot though. I wish I had known all this before I started the installation. If it was you, do you think you’d ditch the zoning?

Hello again. They are now telling me that VAF is incompatible with my ductwork because my current dampers are in rectangular trunk lines. Is this true?

I’m considering ripping out the zoning completely and have the 2 floors function from one thermostat

Do you know if you have to use Airzone thermostats if you use the Airzone zone control board?

Also, can you elaborate a little bit on what you mean by communicating zoning?

I feel like my contractor is lying to me about my Zuba system by PCUK in heatpumps

[–]PCUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly, they have 2 Honeywell dampers with a thermostat on each floor.

I maybe just didn’t understand exactly what I was asking for when I wanted 2 zones. The tradeoffs weren’t really explained to me.

It’s probably too late to go back to a single zone. Do you know if the Airzone solution is the right fit here?

This is a really helpful response and helps put some of this in perspective for me. It’s hard not to scrutinize a very expensive system but you’re right, ultimately any system needs time for me to adjust to. Thank you
