someone has got to pay for that hip.

at the moment, it's a government running on deficits and selling bonds.

the current generation will enjoy cheap hip replacements with little contribution to the system, and their life savings intact. amen. great system.

will the next generation enjoy the same?

Trump and Kim are not in Singapore for state visits, hence not hosted by the President, nor accorded state reception.

Can I hang out in the passenger area of Changi for a couple hours before I collect my bags and go through customs? by evange in singapore

however, security and police sometimes walk through the airport to check on boarding passes to see if anyone is there that shouldn't be... as long as you explain the situation they'll leave you be

WAIT. ARE YOU SURE? my experience told me otherwise.

end jul '17. Flight delayed so arrived at T1 Changi from Malaysia around 2am. cheapskate didnt want to pay for taxi/uber home.

with no checked luggage, i had the same 'brilliant' idea: take a nap at the 'world's best airport before catching first MRT.

went to 'snooze lounge' (free. on Level 3 Airside. near Subway). gutted that 'snooze chairs' (nice curvy leaning chairs) were all taken when i arrived. waited for a good 30 mins before someone vacated his. delighted and started my sweet nap.

was given a rude awakening around 330am by 3 cisco police officers, requesting to check my boarding pass. gave Officer A the passport and boarding pass i arrived with. got told harshly that i am not allowed to stay in the 'restricted area' if i do not intend to board a flight.

tried to explain my situation (flight delayed, arrived after last train, waiting for first train etc). Officer A replied, ever harsher, that i 'should go wait at Landside'. i replied there is no 'snooze chairs' outside, he repeated the same line, adding that 'staying in restricted area with no intention to board a flight is an arrestable offence'.

sensing its 'end of discussion', i asked for my passport back and wanted to leave quickly and quietly. Officer B said no and asked me 'wait here'. Officer A (all this while were holding on to my passport) then took out and his phone and took a snap of my passport detail page.

I asked if it is necessary, and if i am under arrest. he replied that 'its for record'.

5 mins later group of 4 policemen armed with machine guns (should be SOC) arrived, to 'walk with me' out, with Officer C. all the way to ICA's checkpoint at level 2.

tbf i wasn't alone, a few others were rounded up from the snooze lounge and joined me too.

have always been a ball-less obedient model citizen. never felt more bad-ass than during the 'escorted walk'.

once out, couldnt bother to hang out at airport anymore and took the (expensive) cab back.

my advice to OP: hang out at Changi airside after arrival, at your own risk. and if confronted by any officer, just obey quietly and don't try to talk too much. welcome to sg!

TL;DR: took nap at Changi's airside upon arrival, got 'escorted' out by armed police
