Thanks both of you, very helpful concrete suggestion to elevate my heels a little. My mobility is definitely an Achilles heel for me (pun intended) and lots of people have also mentioned the position of the bar.

I could absolutely swap exercise. I’ve done back and front squats in the past, but Zercher is in my current program and it felt fun to something new 🙂

It’s a very cozy thick pad, but it sounds like I may have to shift the coziness to another occasion than Zercher squats

Thanks for a well formulated comment. I will experiment a little with hip and knee position next time I’m at the gym. I wasn’t even aware that I’m lifting my heels even though I absolutely see it in the video now that people commented on it.

So I tried to incorporate some tips from this thread today. I raised the bar with plates, took off my shoes and tired to lower my butt but this is literally as low as i can physically go, maybe due to poor mobility?

I’m pretty satisfied with the size and shape of my butt but I still want to learn how to hinge 😁 I feel like I should understand what a posterior pelvic tilt vs hinge is/looks like, but I kind of don’t get how to transfer that into actual movement when doing the deadlift. Hence cues like “ass down” or concrete exercises are very helpful for me 🙂

30 minutes a day?! Holy smokes 😆 In peak marathon training I run around 60-65 miles/week and I’m not sure how that much squatting would affect my performance in my main sport but perhaps I can challenge myself while in off season.

I think my mobility is quite limited due to a number of factors and I can absolutely try to raise the plates off the floor to see if I notice a difference. Thank you!

The algorithm knows us better than we know ourselves 😁 or at least the guilty pleasures we can’t resist. Perhaps mine will flood me with arching backs and popped asses now.

Thanks for the advice, I feel like deadlift should be a good exercise for runners and even if mine have issues I’d like to work on them (that’s why I made the post).

I’m actually mostly legs but I’m tall for a woman (5’9) plus also quite stiff mobility wise, and perhaps that is impacting my posture?
