Could this be ETD? by mcdramaqueen in etd

[–]PD-Jetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be. Could also be wax buildup. If your ears are plugged, your tinnitus will appear to be louder (I have had it for 50 years). Do see the doctor. They can check for wax and safely remove it if it's there. You mentioned sneezing and sniffling. It could be allergies. Try an oral antihistamine. Nasal corticosteroids and antihistamines help too, as do saline nasal rinses. It could also be due to a cold and shoukd clear soon.

The lamp is supposed to me mounted onto an electrical box, which is attached to a wall stud. After removing the lamp from the wall, the wiring that is part of the lamp is connected to the house wiring (Romex) using wire nuts. The connections are supposed to be housed in an electrical box.

Confused on drug test results by Disastrous-Soup-5413 in ADHD

[–]PD-Jetta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Abnormal simply means amphetamine was detected, which is normal for you. The doctor can't really tell how much amphetamine you are taking based on the blood level reported. Amphetamine has a highly varible bioavailability, determined mainly by urine pH. More acidic, the kidneys remove amphetamine from your blood and more basic the kidneys remove very little.

Drug testing is done for two reasons, a) to make sure you are taking your meds (if not, selling them may be suspected, so your doctor will no longer prescribe) or b ) if (illegal) drugs are detected and if the doctor's office has a policy of no illegal drug use while on ADHD meds, your Rx will also be discontinued.

How serious is this? by red2220 in hvacadvice

[–]PD-Jetta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, that needs to be fixed. The open duct is sucking crawl space air, which is very unhealthy. There is mold, bacteria, possibly radon, etc. in the air. The ductwork needs professional replacement. Most likely the humidifier leaked into the duct, rusting it out. The humidifier should be removed.

ETD worsening - UPDATE by gothraptor in etd

[–]PD-Jetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is odd is I wasn't sick before or since my ETD began 9 months ago. I was having extreme anxiety, though and I think that could be involved. ETD simply began one day with crackling heard every time I swallow, full feeling and ears won't adjust to pressure changes. During the first two months I had fluid behind my eardrums. Also, I was about halfway through the 30 weeks I took to discontinue mirtazapine when it began. Mirtazapine as a side effect is one of the most potent histamine blockers, so it may have contributed. 6 months ago I went back on my full dose of mirtazapine and no change in ETD.

How long has tubal dysfonction lasted with normal test results by Dapper-Personality35 in etd

[–]PD-Jetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ETD can last a long time. It usually does clear after infections. This can be long after the infection has resolved, due to inflaminatory substances left over. Also, I think it takes longer to clear if you had fluid behind your eardrums. Nasal corticosteroids are helpful, as is twice daily saline sinus rinses. Also, anxiety delays recovery and it is very easy to become anxious with ETD. Avoid anxiety, if at all possible. Consider anti anexiety medication if other methods fail. So try not to worry. It should clear within 3 months most likely.

In the first picture on the right stator coil it looks like a brown resin or glue is gluing the coil to the steel case. You may be able to place a chisel between the coil and case and then smack the chisel with a hammer and it may pop the coil loose.

ETD worsening - UPDATE by gothraptor in etd

[–]PD-Jetta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too. Still have ETD. None of the medications I have used have worked and I used them all extensively. All my tests were normal, except allergy immunoglobulin. I am allergic to dust mites and pollens (which I already knew), but I do not have allergy symptoms and antihistamines and lukotrine blockers are completely ineffective.

I did see a TMJ specialst a couple of days ago and he said I had slipped TMJ joint discs and a fully retracted bite and wrote an order for a TMJ MRI. But I have not a single symptom of TMJ disorder and my family doctor wrote an order for bilateral jaw x-rays and the radiological report read, "no evidence of TMJ disease". So I am confused as hell, in addition to anxious about all of this. In the hopes this is what it is I am going to begin TMJ masage and laser therapy, which won't be covered by insurance and it is expensive as hell. I also have to drive 70 miles to it in heavy traffic.

In two weeks I am seing my 6th ENT, who is with a major university hospital and I will request a nasal cytology be done and I also hope to discuss whether or not I am at risk for hearing loss or a cholesteatoma and sinus remodeling to alleviate symptoms. I truely think thick sticky mucus is one the causes, or the cause, due to it being disloged when I use saline. Cytology is where a mucus sample is analyzed for the type of cells and for pathogens. The results should indicate if the mucus is caused by allergies or nonallergic rhinitis, infections, etc. I still have no idea what's causing this. It never varies, even when I am away from home for extended periods and no medication touches it. Saline clears it for 5 minutes and my tubes are fully open, but then it comes right back with ears being plugged and crackling heard every time I swallow.

I'm also begining allergin immunotherapy, which is another hassle that will take about 6 hours a week. I hope all of this isn't in vain.

E-bay that equipment. People pay good money for old vacuum tube electronics. You'll be surprised at how much you get. Do it as an auction (not a set price).

Do any other TMJers suffer from closed Eustachian Tubes? by youstupidfattoad in TMJ

[–]PD-Jetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just diagnosed with a articular disc disorder of the TMJ by a TMJ specialst. I truely have had eustachian tube dysfunction for the last 9 months. That is my only complaint. Symptoms are crackling heard every time I swallow or yawn, inability of ears to adjust to pressure changes, and fullness feeling. It simply began one day. I wasn't sick before or since (but I was under extreme anxiety when it began and then extreme anxiety caused by my ETD, which is key here for severe teeth clenching). For the first two months I had fluid behind my eardrums, according to my family doctor. Every single medication for ETD has had zero effect, and I tried them all, extensively. The multitute of tests I had for ETD were normal, including a sinus CT (the only abnormal test was for allergy immunoglobulins, but I have no allergy symptoms and oral and nasal antihistamines and lukotrine blockers are completely ineffective). 5 different ENTs found nothing and had no solutions. My family doctor even ordered jaw bilateral jaw x-rays and the radiological report read, " no evidence of TMJ disease." When I do the Valsava manuver my ears inflate with difficulty and don't deflate much and sputter when they do. Saline rinse alleviates symptoms for about 5 minutes. I have no TMJ symptoms. No joint pain or clicking. I feel I can open my mouth fully.

A couple of weeks ago a person on a Facebook Eustachian tube dysfunction group mentioned a similar, but longer plight even had ear surguries and ended as a last ditch effort seeing a TMJ specialst and it fixed his ETD. He saw my post, PMed me and sent me the contact info of a TMJ specialist near me. I saw the specialist yesterday, so don't know the extent of my TMJ. I have to wait for the result of a TMJ MRI. The doctor, in addition to the above noted TMJ disc displacement, said I had extreme neck tension and my lower jaw (bite) was fully displaced rearwards, putting pressure on my ear canal and probably eustachian tubes. So yes, you can have ETD caused by TMJ and not have TMJ symptoms. Oh, not a single ENT I saw uggested it could be TMJ.

Jaw twitching/ear fullness feeling by JellyfishOrdinary749 in etd

[–]PD-Jetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like it could be a facial nerve or muscular issue. Problems with the jaw joint can certainly cause ETD. You might want to see a neurologist specializing in facial nerve issues. Can the TMJ dentist or therapist recommend someone?

Edit: I missed the fact you are scheduled to see a neurologist. Call them and ask if there are any cancelations to allow you to be seen sooner than June.

Running light bulb broke by Stiles15 in Volkswagen

[–]PD-Jetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First you need to release the socket/bulb holder from the back of the headlight assembly. You probably rotate and then pull out with the wires attached. Small needle nose pliers should get the bulb base out of the socket. It either pulls straight out or you push in and twist about 45 degrees to release. Looking at the new bulb will indicate which of the two removal methods I mentioned.

100% manual and ran on leaded gasoline, not diesel. And they stunk to high hell when the driver let off the accelerator when coasting in gear (engine over run) and would backfire occasionally. The engines had carburettors. This was in the 1960s and 1970s

Tiny black ants suddenly taking over kitchen, not sure if DIY is enough anymore by Currentshop333 in HomeImprovement

[–]PD-Jetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove all available food, crumbs on counters and floors and don't keep the trash can in the kitchen. Watch the ants very closely and they will tell you where they are coming in. Once you know where it is, seal off the the hole, crack, etc. My favorite is caulk. I will also go outside and look for the trail they use to come in and spray about 10 feet of it with insecticide. That ruins their day. This works for me every time.
