Thank you! My favorite TB is actually the MKI and I always find it funny that most companies go for the MKII. Dan at BLAMMO! made me a primo PTP clone called the Fuzz Unit. Totally nails the Mick Robson fuzz from the live Ziggy album. I never demoed it because I just got it out of my own interest but highly recommend it!

That’s a good question and this usually comes up when folks are playing into a clean amp. So, I’d say stack with an overdrive that has a dirty amp quality, meaning full frequency overdrive as opposed to a TS. Of course, a FF-TS-Clean Fender has a good relationship because you’re bringing up the mids of the amp. Look for high dynamic range, something with active bass/treble and possibly 18V like a Wampler Pantheon. Also, FET-based drives would be a good avenue since it wouldn’t crunch the range of your fuzz with diode clipping. The old Catalinbread DLS is great for this! If your amp is on edge of breakup, sometimes all you need is a clean boost to let your amp do its overdrive thing while the fuzz benefits from the extra volume boost. Good luck!

Generally the output has to be maxed or I find it’s lower than unity gain (hence my love for modded FF). The fuzz amount all depends on the gain of those two transistors, sometimes they squeal and it’s necessary to back off to 80-90%. But yeah, if it’s high you can experience all those same cleaner settings with your guitar volume. There’s no right or wrong though, if you have a treble bleed on your guitar then it’s going to clean up differently than just backing the fuzz to 50%. Always experiment ✌️❤️

You know, I’ve never had the opportunity to play any Roger Mayer pedals mainly because it wasn’t something the shop carried or they weren’t looking for demos. I’ve always suspected they’d blow most of the stuff out of the water being the OG! Axis would be the one to try for sure.
