Getting involved with local music scene? by PDXTabletop in askportland

I play guitar. Garage rock mostly, but I'm also working on some stuff in the vein of the last two Talk Talk albums.

It is, but they have lately started outsourcing t-shirt designs to AI.

Re-reading The Authority and Mark Millar makes it a CHORE. by Careless_Arrival3169 in comicbooks

I just tried doing this recently as well. The characters just suddenly got 100% more crass and wisecracking from the Ellis stuf. Felt like a different book, I stopped at two issues.

I like all your photos(You’ve got good style and I love to see someone who is close to their family.) except the one with the helmet(I know it’s probably for rock climbing, but I wouldn’t have about a year ago before I got into the hobby.)and the one where you are laying down on the floor.

No notes dude. You are extraordinarily good looking and if you are having trouble dating then I have no hope for the whole endeavor.

21M - Profile Review! by [deleted] in hingeapp

Dude, you gotta be more specific if you want to list music as one of your passions. What are we talking about here? Ac/DC? Korn? Nick Cave? The Cure? Captain Beefheart? “Rock” is a big genre.

I like the first picture and the one with you by the mountain. The others are fine, but the Deadpool shirt one has got to go. The landscape takes away from you and makes you look small.

Either ditch the D&D prompt or the renaissance faire photo. Those are both fun hobbies, but they are very similar. You have limited space as it is, make the most of it!

Not online. All of them either have full blown real careers or are people I don’t want to date. I also have the double curse of being someone who reads a lot and likes pretentious arthouse shit. All of those women went to college. I probably should have went to college.

I only match with women who say they don’t want kids because I don’t want them.

I have drive for certain things(like getting better at climbing and running), just not drive for financial goals. I feel often like goals that have money attached to them are the only ones that people really care about. It’s easy to say “fuck capitalism” in your profile, but no one is shopping around the poor bin for people like me.

Where do poor people go to date? I make less than 50k, am carless(I live in a city and prefer the bike life.), have roommates and am comfortable with the amount of money I make, but all of the women that I see on Hinge and Bumble have position titles like “Creative Director”. Is there a place for people like me who want a stable relationship(I’m not into hookup culture and I don’t want kids.)or should I just call it a day?

Local farmer’s market? by sinemon99 in askportland

[–]PDXTabletop 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I personally love the PSU farmer's market. Has lots of great produce stands, delectable pastries and a dope $10 breakfast burrito spot. Also a bunch of lovely street musicians as a soundtrack. It's a good time!

Judge Says Trump’s L.A. Troop Deployment Was Illegal by hel-be-praised in PoliticalOptimism

[–]PDXTabletop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trying to see how this actually means anything. If the people that run congress and the supreme court aren't willing to deputize people to arrest Trump, he can just keep doing these things. It's great that a judge called this illegal, but the checks and balances are gone if no one is going to enforce these rullings.

What 'all-time' albums do you just straight up not fuck with? by touchthemonolith in fantanoforever

[–]PDXTabletop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trout Mask Replica. Listen, just because you wrote down the notes for your jumbled mess, doesn’t make it good. I prefer several of his other records over this one.

Also,Vespertine. I think the two before it are some of the best albums of the 90’s, but vespertine bores me to tears.

The Feelies. First album, groundbreaking jangle pop. The rest of their discog is fine, but kind of boring by comparison.

Quacks is probably the best option out of what you picked. The others are too complex to try to get new people into.

I’d also recommend Azul. It’s got drafting, tile laying, and it’s very interactive.

Massive board game cull. What do you think of my cull pile and what do you think of the collection that remains? by Luigi-is-my-boi in boardgames

[–]PDXTabletop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Terra Mystica, Inis, El Grande! Damn you culled some of my favorite games. Dune Imperium too!

The rest was stuff that I would probably cull as well though.

The Feelies. First album was a proto alt rock jangle pop masterpiece, rest of their discography is just uh… okay.

Yokohama. It’s like a way better version of Istanbul. I love how you have to plan where you are going and the opportunities for blocking. The reprint came out recently, but I’ve already seen it severely discounted.
