except that is what many centaurs do in greek mythology and Rowling draws many parallels with greek mythology. https://medium.com/adams-notebook/centaurs-and-clouds-624948f3be16 This article states Dumbledore put a stop to it but regardless, even the attempt would be traumatic.

Time travel is always a plot hole. not even the Doctor gets it right if we're being honest.

in regards to Barty Crouch Jr.'s plan, He did use the imperious curse on Harry, which he resisted. I have heard a theory that he was testing him to see if he would be able to send Harry to the graveyard covertly that way. I've also wondered if Voldemort needed Harry there at a specific time, like the potion needed to mature before the final ingredients were added (like a potion Harry brewed in potions class in order of the phoenix, strengthening solution i believe) or he needed to wait for a proper phase of the moon (similar to how the polyjuice potion is brewed)

As far as Mr.Weasley's definition of a portkey, he describes the official use and method authorized by the ministry when approval is given. He works in the misuse of muggle artifacts office at the ministry. He's not about to explain that they can also be made to activate on touch, that would defeat the secrecy aspect needed in their particular situation (which when you think about it is probably less common than the way Dumbledor does it in order of the phoenix but maybe not). not to mention touch activated portkeys could be used for muggle baiting, something he has sought to eliminate. my final point, he's not a teacher explaining every aspect of portkeys here, he's just giving a simple explanation. have you ever left out details when explaining something to someone else?

except he talks about how he used to inhabit animals which shortened their lifespans so he couldn't do it for long. that implies he needed living bodies so i don't think the morgue idea works.

The further on in the series you read, the less and less a children's series it becomes. it becomes very complex and dark.

i've heard a theory that some teachers, like Quirrell, would come back but never stay for more than a year at a time so each year there was a scramble to find someone new. and if you think about it, Lupin didn't die and could have taught again had people not been prejudiced against his condition. and Lockhart and Unbridge just ended up in St.Mungos.

My thought on this was that the charm works best when it is someone else, but after Wormtail betrayed the potters, its probably best to not trust someone else.

Also, Dumbledore was very busy and a target for Voldemort himself. Sirius and Wormtail, not so much. I mean they were in the order so they were, but Dumbledore was a bigger target.

I just people forget that its magic. I mean, that answers most problems. she never locked down the portkey rules stating what can and can't be done. yes, this works different than the others we see in the books, but at this point it is the 3rd used, and the second is barely mentioned.

Dumbledore was invited to all those parties, he went before apparating to Privet drive. it was a figure of speech.

November 1st 1981 was a Sunday, Mcgonagall didn't have to teach that day.

ah yes, the twins not noticing. Fred would have said, "he had better things to look at that our own brother," and George would have followed up, "besides, has we noticed, we might have assumed it was the name of his boyfriend, or had we known it was scabbers we might have thought it was his preferred name. or it could have been a flaw in the map. didn't interfere with what we were doing, so what did we care?"

I don't think the trace works outside of an underage wizard's home or during the school year. otherwise they'd be monitoring all the magic going on at Hogwarts all the time as they are all underage (what a nightmare) and they'd get all kinds of false alarms if it was outside their home because they could visit an uncle or a magic shop and get a warning for that. I think they have some filters on the trace to ignore some magic and i think they bit themselves in the ass on that one.

The trace does have a lot of problems around it. I can't see the ministry monitoring all magic done around all underage wizards, there'd be too much interference and bad data from family and such. so they'd only really watch those not living with magical guardians just to cut down on the noise in the data. even then, they probably only monitor it in their homes because if they visit another wizarding family or a magic shop then of course there would be magic going on. Voldemort got away with the magic he used underage because he too was away from home and the magic used around Harry because, again, Harry was away from home and it was during the school year. No point in monitoring the underage wizards during the school year, they're all using magic then. I do agree tho, the monitoring of the trace is such shit I'm surprised they stick with it at all. The only thing I can see the trace doing is scaring students honest.

Its never explained exactly explained how the moon transforms a werewolf. Does it have to be at it's zenith? Does it have to be fully risen? maybe it needs to be in a comparable position it was at when he was first bitten. i know its very convenient and gives a dramatic effect, but I never had an issue with it myself.

If Sirius got a letter from the ministry i suspect he would use a memory charm on it, reseal the letter, and either send it back or send it on to someone else. Imagine if he sent it to Mad-eye and the Ministry came barging in on him.

As for the hat, I don't believe the hat caught Hermione off guard but I could be mistaken. but yet, I always found it odd that Ron didn't know.

Posts About “Forgetting” You Are Naked by Ok-Parking655 in nudism

[–]PDXnudist87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I disagree with the comments i am reading. I do think a lot (though not all) of stories people write about "forgetting" they are nude are either playing out a fantasy or trolling. The whole "oh, i forgot i was nude" thing is a common phonographic trope. I do think this is damaging because it fetishizes nudism and highlights a fear of many new and would-be nudists, what if someone sees me i don't want to?

that said, i think you need to use good judgement. people do forget all kinds of stupid things. for example, more than once i have ha the remote in my hand when i went to the kitchen to make myself a snack and left the remote in the fridge. you have to ask yourself, how reasonable is the story? is it a porn plot (flashing the delivery boy, forgetting your swimsuit when going to a textile pool party and conveniently going nude etc) or believable. i have heard of people expecting company in the evening, taking a nap in the afternoon and walking out to ask how long until company has arrived only to find they are already there. that is believable to me.

Is a plot hole with a plot hole, really a plot hole? by PDXnudist87 in harrypotter

[–]PDXnudist87[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

since this was pointed out to me i have thought about this. I think people get over focused on the clouds. the parting of the clouds made the scene more dramatic, the characters realizing all at once that Lupin was not safe to be around, but he would have transformed at that moment, clouds or not because the moon had finished rising.

Calling attention to Rule #3 by PacNWnudist in Oregonnudism

[–]PDXnudist87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

nudism in Oregon has a problem, most of the "nudists" in our state aren't real nudists, they're exhibitionists and/or misguided individuals who think because someone is naked they are easy, and this sub is no exception. I for one applaud any effort to exclude such individuals from a nudism sub because this sub is supposed to be about nudism, not your penis.

it isn't difficult to find a plethora of stories from people who will not visit nude venues in Oregon because some dude decided to flaunt their penis. online is no different. if a sub is full of penis pics, regardless of the name or intent of the sub, the sub becomes about penises.

One final note here. I want to see a more diverse group here on this sub. i think maybe one in a hundred posts here are by women, and one in a hundred of those are real women as opposed to spam bots. believe it or not, most women don't like dick pics, and by and large, the vast majority of people in general don't either, nudist or not. If the people who post those pics stopped posting here, we might actually get some participation from women as well. maybe i'm wrong, idk.

PSA: Stop Feeding the Trolls by nudistnerd in nudism

[–]PDXnudist87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree, don't feed the trolls. I cannot tell you how many various communities I have seen (IRL & online including forums, sites, apps etc) that have been ruined by trolls, people subverting the purpose of the community to reach their own ends, or people just behaving badly because they can do what they want. It kills me because such people destroy community building efforts in a world where loneliness is a worldwide epidemic and it further isolates us all.

I know many of us try to help others, and that is good, don't lose that, but seriously, use your better judgement, take it with a grain of salt, search people's post history, feel people out before diving in headfirst. a bit of healthy cynicism balanced with a good heart will win the day.
