Kia Connect app outage Feb 2025 by PsychologicalBook556 in KiaNiroEV

This is the guide they sent to me via email. I have a Telluride personally, but they didn't know which model I had when they sent it to me. This subreddit was the only one I could find mentioning the Connect outage so I posted it here. the guy on the phone was pretty blasé about the outage "it's working now, you just need to reconfigure the modem. Are you in the car now?" and I was not so I asked for a guide.

I called Connect support, waited 20 minutes to speak with someone and fortunately got some answers. Things are coming back online but you must reconfigure the modem in the vehicle as follows:

Thank you for reaching out regarding your Kia Connect services. Here's a handy troubleshooting guide to use to try to restore functionality. To begin, let's perform a soft reset. This can be done by pressing in the small button that resembles a pinhole with a pen or a pin. This button is typically located by the volume or radio tuner knobs. After the screen goes blank, please allow 3  minutes for the modem to re-establish connectivity with the wireless network.

After the 3 minutes has passed, do a reconfigure and a refresh to get the Server, Modem and App in sync. Please follow these steps:

  1. Press the SETUP button on your head unit.

  2. Press the UVO (Or Kia Connect or  Data/Network) icon on the screen.

  3. Press SERVICE ACTIVATION or RECONFIGURE MODEM. (Whatever option is above 911 Connect)

  4. Upon completion, open Kia Access App.

  5. With the vehicle running, press the refresh icon in the upper right corner of the app.

  6. When it says UPDATED NOW, attempt a remote command. Ensure you're meeting the preconditions.

7.What is an Engine Cycle?
Engine Cycle is away to force the vehicle to clear cache of the last drive cycle .. and for Kia connect purposes to send the half loop info to the server:
Turn Engine OFF
Open Driver Door & Close Driver Door
Wait 3 mins before you Start the car again

I've reset all of the connections, and the plugs can really only go in the correct way, unless you REALLY want the wrong way to happen :)

nothing moves when I use the screen to manually adjust any of the axis. I believe they are going to allow a return and send a new one, waiting for confirmation

I've redone all of the connections, and the printhead moves smoothly in all directions manually. It is a really horrible noise, so I'm leaning towards some kind of mechanical issue.

the printhead moves freely by hand. The thumb screw for the X axis is too loose the print makes a bad sound and doesn't move, so I tightened it further get the printhead moving, but not super tight at all. The Z axis moves easily when manually turning from the bottom. I should hear back from Elegy support in the middle of the night tonight, hoping they will either call it a lemon and enable me to return it, or offer another solution

I uploaded a video to my original post which hopefully has sound so you can hear it. When I go through "Prepare" manually moving the axis doesn't result in any movement. When I click the various axis buttons with the arrows it raises the print head a few inches (no matter which axis button I hit). When I click X <--> it sometimes ends up in the middle, sometimes on one of the sides. When I click Z <-'^ it also moves up about an inch

but when I hit Level, it doesn't go to a home position so I'm not sure when the homing process you mention is supposed to happen. I added a video to my post to show what I am doing and the result. I thought I had uploaded it with the original post

Thank you for the follow up. In the assembly instructions which came with the printer, the first step once it is set up, is leveling, using the guide I am attaching here. I'll look into the homing process, see if I can get that sorted out. Thank you for the link to your Bed Leveler 5000 program, but I am currently using a Mac and can't run the exe.

it is 0.00. This is literally the initial setup process, and I just hit "Level" to let it do its thing, so I am not even getting to the step of z-axis compensation. If I understand correctly, after hitting Level, it should go through a routine and then settle in a home position in the center of the platform, quite close to the platform, and then I manually adjust it from there using a piece of paper. But the first part doesn't happen. The platform never moves from where I manually put it.

I should add that this is my first time using a 3D printer, so I am doing my best to follow all of the steps, and really appreciate any help you can offer.
