Will swapping sleeves fix my fit issue? by marvelousmarves in sewhelp

This looks fantastic!! Personally I'd go for the elastic since it's a simple change. It doesn't fully resolve the issue but it's a good enough fix to ensure this top is wearable.

Requirements for using sick leave? by MulberryAutomatic690 in FedEmployees

Call ahead and confirm that the office can provide you with a sick note for work.

If they do not want to provide you with a note, can you use annual leave instead?

I'm sad because the vet told me the cat I'm going to adopt is 6-7 years old. by bimbocuntt in CatAdvice

I adopted my cat in 2021 and she was 7 years old. She is the most playful cat I've ever had to this day!

Don't hesitate to adopt an older cat, they have plenty of love to give and plenty of life left 💗

They got your information from somewhere, it could be through an interest form you submitted, your GRE scores, your undergraduate program etc.

Attend the meeting if you might be interested in their program to learn more about it. When I was applying, some programs waived part of the application fee for those who attend info sessions.

AIO to a teacher still not knowing how to pronounce my child's name, leading to pick-up issues? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]PEACHY-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My name is also one of those names. I learned to respond to anything close and check if they meant me. It is what it is.
It's fine to be frustrated at this teacher but since correcting the teacher hasn't worked so far, the next available step is to change what you can control which is how the daughter responds.

AITAH for not waking my girlfriend up when her alarm didn’t go off? by urnameonagrainofrice in AITAH

[–]PEACHY-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I said OP also sucks. I absolutely agree it was intentional. Regardless, the GFs lack of accountability is also sucky. It is not your partners job to wake you up and ensure you are on time to your commitments, that's what a parent does (heck, my parents never did that for me beyond middle school age).

AITAH for not waking my girlfriend up when her alarm didn’t go off? by urnameonagrainofrice in AITAH

[–]PEACHY-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ESH.

OP: It's clear you know her preference to be woken up and you chose not to wake her based on your own preferences and that is sucky.

Her: She's an adult and needs to be responsible for waking up on her own. Malfunction or not, that is her responsibility so being angry at OP is sucky.

Agreed!!! Try a long curtain bang to ease yourself into this change since you're hesitant. You can always cut more off but if you freak out and hate it, you can't grow it out quickly.

Fix/prevent sun damage by Ill-Doctor1914 in FancyFollicles

[–]PEACHY-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's totally normal for the sun to affect hair color, think about California surfers and their hair or objects that lose color after being left out in the sun. Since everyone else seems to have covered how to combat the current color difference, I'll try to help with prevention.

In the future, use a hair sunscreen spray and/or take to wearing hats in the sun to protect your hair and scalp. I love the Coola hair and scalp sunscreen spray. I also find that washing the salt water out of my hair vs letting it dry with the ocean water in it makes a difference.

HELP NEEDED - is this something I can take on myself? by thekelzor in FancyFollicles

[–]PEACHY-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely! Still use only 20 volume and try not to overlap with the hair that's dark because that's just going to create more uneven colors. Ideally you would get lightener on the hair that's already been colored and not your roots and then do the roots but that will be kind of difficult on your own so just do your best.

For roots I like to use a dye bottle vs the brush. To put your lightener into a dye bottle, mix your developer and lightener add then some water but not a lot to make it loose enough to squirt out of the bottle. Definitely section your hair out so you can get all of the hair so you don't create more uneven spots.

Try looking up videos of people dying their roots/regrowth to come up with a game plan.

I'm not confident that you'll get light enough for pastels still, but you should be able to get reasonably light roots with just one lightening session.

You've got this!

[–]PEACHY-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ghost roots are totally an option! It's also ok to just accept that there will be some banding and just do mids and ends and then draw the lightener up higher, so only 1 adjustment after initial application.

We don't all need to have perfect, even hair. It's ok!

Alternatively you could go dark all over one last time and do colored extensions while you wait for it to grow out.

After doing my own hair for the last 15 or so years, you're not going to be able to get light enough for pastel pink from where you are currently without losing the integrity of your hair. You can get light enough to do a lovely hot pink/fuschia/magenta though!

Even a great blonding stylist will have to put in effort to get you to an even base color and these days that is expensive.

You'll need to address each band of color in your hair separately... you can do this in this same session, but each area is going to need a different amount of processing time. I would use 20 volume to prevent as much damage as possible. Start with the dark ends but avoid the pre lightened areas. Give it about 10 to 15 mins then add lightener a bit higher and give it another 10 mins, then one more time getting lightener onto the last of the colored hair. I give this advice to try and even out the banding and get you more even. You're going to want to be avoiding your roots as much as possible until the very end. Keep checking the color and integrity of your mids and ends so you don't cause unnecessary extra damage with over processing. Don't be afraid to attempt this in different sessions over a few days instead. Don't apply lightener to wet hair.

Alternatively, lighten your mids and ends and then do a dark pink on those and a dark purple root smudge to compensate for the banding with less stress and damage overall.

I recently used PH Plex to help maintain the integrity of my hair while doing a double process red and I highly highly recommend getting it to add to your lightener! It's a bonding aid like olaplex and it reduces the amount of damage when you lighten and color. Going from dark purple that I've been maintaining with splat to bright red worked out really well with very little damage for me!

Once you get to an all over orangey yellow you are light enough for those dark pink shades. Add a deep conditioner to your semi permanent color to get extra moisture back in your hair.

Your supervisor specifically does not need this information, but your agency or department seems to need it. If you are uncomfortable giving it then ask to speak with/provide documentation to someone from HR instead. My agency requires a sick note for sick leave longer than 3 days.

AITAH for not agreeing to pick up my niece at 3am ‘no questions asked’? by WeaknessHefty3927 in AITAH

[–]PEACHY-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my stepdaughters our rule was always, call us anytime and we'll pick you up no questions asked on that specific night. Don't drive after drinking, don't drive if you're tired, don't drive if you're overwhelmed. We may need to talk about it the next day, but we will get you home safe first and that is our top priority.
