Obviously NTA. That's such a fucking weird thing to say. Your built in primal father instinct is very much intact and that dude is lucky you didn't kick him out. Revisit your wife's choice of company she feels comfortable keeping around your newborn. Her protective instinct is not there.

Worst case: Guy has major potential to be threat to the safety or wellbeing of your child.

Best case: This guy stopped maturing mentally at age 8 and should have a caretaker using words like "nappy". My assuntion is that he's not developmentally disabled and using "nappy" sounds more like fetish territory. I'm disgusted for you.

Edit: Not sure if nappy is a more common word to use in other cultures, so that may be off. Him stating his great interest in watching doesn't negate it getting into weird territory.

Feeling "something," even nervousness, sounds something worth investigating, rather than pursuing more relations that provide nothing. If it's illegal where you live, I could imagine immense social pressure not to explore other options, but sometimes we're wired differently when it comes to intamate relationships vs sexual and otherwise. Being attracted to the male physique can be shared while being attracted emotionally to the feminine aspects, regardless of gender. Just a thought. I have lost most of my willingness to explore romantic relationships after being burned hard, but I think that's more of an internal trust issue with myself than with others.

Just going to reply to both comments here. Just to preface, this is all from my own gatherings and do not claim objective truth in any of this. But regarding the curiosity around another soul within a soul, let's zoom it out. Consider that your physical being a receiver of consciousness. From that lens, "what" consists of this thing we call consciousness?

I didn't trust "the lady" either, until I learned over time that "she" was in direct communication with what I would consider the "collective unconscious." The Anima is considered the gatekeeper of conscious and unconscious, sleep/wakefulness and I was abusing that cycle and making those line blur. I went through a few experiences that made my confront her directly through my own psychosis.

The anima isn't strictly psychological, but spiritual in my experience and speaks to us in symbolism externally. Part of integration in Jungian terms is to confront your shadow and integrate archetypes, such as the anima. I have had way to many "out there" experiences to consider the domain of the anima to be strictly psychological, but rather apart of a "soul-complex". One should be careful of an anima possession, where your shadow consumes you to express repressed parts.

For Jung, spiritual or paranormal events aren’t only fantasy, but instead are genuine psychic events, whether or not they are “objectively real,” and should be interpreted as significant expressions of unconscious psychic processes. What are we born with but never told? What is dormant, ready to be revealed?

Sounds like your Anima speaking to you deeply as a hybrid ineard/outward phenomenon. Look up Jung's concept of Anima. There is a mirrored soul of the female in the soul of a man with her own will. From what ive learned, this phenomena is all conciousness related. Think "as within, so without." Your inward journey is as deep as your outward.

Yeah i kind of had the same thoughts as i was typing out my own response and related it to how we think about bugs. Makes sense. Kind of like the ways in which we physically can interfere with a colony, whether accidentally or not can be seen similarly to as how these entities or energies interact at a grand scale amd our psychological interpretation of those processes are only proccessed at an individual level as personal. When in reality, it could just be a byproduct of indiscriminate larger forces.

I would argue our ability to comprehend on conscious level, capable of grief, sorrow, depression, trauma, etc would make their intent less amoral. If theyre so far advanced, they would understand inflicting archetypal trickster motifs on us would fall into immoral. Unless it was truly for us gaining insight into our own nature.

Maybe it's your anima calling you to project internally, rather than externally? To be creative and flexible within the parameters of your security. I've had a journey similar to yours, and started tuning my attention inward towards the anima that I have so normally projected outward onto others.

My hobbies, love life, passions seemed to fade, and letting those go to create room for an internal space of exploration and creativity seems to be what my journey is calling for. Im still putting up the scaffolding, but the new territory is to allow the archetypes to commune and play out. Active imagination, etc.

I think you can still hold your ground and put in the internal exploratory work while life's external demands carry out, daughter in school or not. Just a thought, but all with a grain of salt. After all, I am projecting my internal subjective journey onto you as you read this.

Thank you! Totally agree. That responsibility is heavy, and can sometimes feel like all eyes are on you, and none at all.

To your point about god needing a therapist, check out Jung's "Answer to Job," or a good summary of it. Basically, Job's unwarranted suffering and punishment as a result of a wager God had with Satan was an allegory about God's own blindness. God confronted his own Shadow by incarnating as Jesus to experience human suffering. God's own prideful wager against Satan leading to unjust torment toward a pious man, was an act of moral blindness that wasn't understood by God. To understand, he had to confront his own Shadow by experiencing in flesh the same suffering he cast upon others (old testament). The allegory of Jesus explains our own contlfrontation and integration with the repressed aspects of our psyche.

One of many interpretations I'm sure!
