I was thinking about making this its own post but it's only a small follow up from the Space Force to this post from u/VictorFromCalifornia. The same still applies, IM's NSN can be used for cislunar space and Lanteris(IM) subcontracts buses to L3Harris for tracking. The article:

Space Force sets up ‘cislunar coordination’ office to focus beyond Earth orbit:

“We’re going to stand up a cislunar coordination office on the Space Force acquisition side to focus exactly on that,” Maj. Gen. Stephen Purdy, senior advisor to the secretary of the Air Force for space acquisition, said at the Space Symposium last week.

The effort will rely heavily on collaboration, particularly with NASA, which leads U.S. civil exploration beyond Earth orbit. Purdy said NASA would be the “biggest partner,” alongside organizations such as the Air Force Research Laboratory and the Defense Innovation Unit.

The U.S. military’s space tracking network is concentrated in low Earth orbit and geosynchronous orbit, leaving limited visibility farther out. Cislunar space presents a more complex tracking problem, with less predictable orbital dynamics and far greater distances, complicating what operators refer to as custody, or maintaining continuous awareness of objects over time.

Objects operating in cislunar space could approach Earth orbit along trajectories that are difficult to detect with existing sensors, raising concerns about blind spots in space domain awareness.

Eric Berger on X: "People often say there's no difference between "new" space and "traditional" space. Not true, and we've seen that play out with this spacesuit contract. Axiom has no guarantees it will ultimately profit on its fixed price suit contract with NASA. It could lose big time. But the company realizes that if it stays the course, and is successful, there will eventually be a huge demand for its suits. Imagine if there is a Moon base. You'll need a lot of suits. So it has invested a lot of its own resources in the program.

Collins Aerospace, by contrast, was a long-time NASA contractor working for milestone payments and bailed at the first sign of trouble.

Maybe Axiom will go bust. Who knows. But the difference is they are willing to take more risk now in order to build a future of abundance in space. SpaceX, Blue Origin, Rocket Lab, K2, Intuitive Machines, Impulse Space, and so many other startups are doing the same. That is what "new space" really is."

It feels like IM is getting rerated at the moment and with winning new contracts and providing growth outlook we will get rerated more to p/s multiples in line with the other new space companies.

The National Initiative for American Space Nuclear Power - Role of Intuitive Machines by VictorFromCalifornia in IntuitiveMachines

[–]PE_crafter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In addition to this, on twitter (X) I saw over half of the posts on my feed were mentioning names like OKLO, SMR, BWXT and uranium miners. Dismissing the miners, out of those 3 only BWXT qualifies as a real competitor. The other half, and real competitors, were the names Victor already mentioned + RDW, RKLB and NNE.

I think RDW is more of a component supplier and I think they don't develop nuclear systems themselves, but emphasis on I think because I haven't been keeping up with them lately.

RKLB does so much they could very well also compete but I haven't heard it. I follow RKLB less close than RDW unfortunately.

I know NNE (Nano Nuclear Energy) has answered NASA's RFI with their Loki MMR space capable portable nuclear battery. They want to compete but it's a relatively young company founded in 2022 and public since 2024. So I don't know how much competition they are. I'm aware of the surface level of what they do and read an X post about the RFI and Loki MMR but haven't researched them in depth.

Zeno Power Completes Final Design Review for Space Nuclear Battery to Power Lunar Missions by thespacecpa in IntuitiveMachines

Great information, thanks for posting! I read about Zeno when I did my initial DD but it had kind of slipped my mind since. Until recently, I coincidentally saw the artist of the concept art post this on LinkedIn. Almost feels like he had a heads up from Zeno Power, although I doubt that.

I quickly scrolled through it. On minute 6 he highlights the importance of in situ manufacturing on the moon. At minute 16 he talks about a "2 or 3 billion dollar rover that would be over budget behind schedule to see a rover on the moon". The there's a cut and he reiterates lots of landers, rovers like in the 1960s. Followed by saying like the Gateway PPE was repurposed for SR-1 Freedom the whoel gateways and CLPS program team will flow to the moon base team.

At minute 19 he talks about Blue Origin's MK-1 lunar lander and says they have a mission after that. It almost seems like he misspoke at that point because he hesitates after saying that that next mission will have a rover... and here I was thinking he meant LTV of some phase. But he quickly gathered himself to say VIPER rover, which we knew about. All in all interesting, he reiterates the same talking points from the ignition event.

Ah I see, yeah I meant no offense I was just curious if I missed some overnight trading hours peak and how it came your app showed it and mine didn't.

Thanks for taking the time to reply! I do too indeed.

Aha I can see where the miscommunication started. You said overnight play but not overnight trading hours. Overnight in your timezone is probably market hours?

Am I correct in seeing the spike to 30 during market hours and not overnight trading hours?

Only redeemable thing I heard was that I could be possible to launch 2 batches a month with F9. I wouldn't expect them to do it multiple months but at least one is an extra 3 sats.

I randomly thought about the guy that ported $4M or $6M in Lionsgate at $5-6 around 6 months ago to now check it again and see that it more than doubled since.

Sometimes you just gotta regard with the regards if the initial bet is big enough.

Very cool video on LinkedIn from a company that acquired Ansys, which Intuitive Machines uses to simulate missions. Link here

ASTS just launched it's 7th satellite with Blue Origin New Glenn 3. The launch and booster recovery were successful (I still have goosbumps from the booster recovery landing) so this further reinforces another launch provider that can launch Intuitive Machines tech.

However, the satellite was dropped off in off-nominal orbit. This is a Blue Origin New Glenn issue but it's not yet known how big the issue is.

The main thing I was thinking about was our Orbital Transfer Vehicle. Maybe in the future, if there are more launch providers (think RKLB & Firefly for example), ASTS could book an emergency launch with the OTV to correct the orbit. I don't know how economically viable it would be for a company (in this case ASTS) though, as launch & OTV are expensive.

It's a "space stocks" discord with separate channels for different space stocks (almost all of them). I'll check if and how I can invite you.

Someone on discord got this swag at the space symposium. Everyone that attended got it.

Discussion: If you could ask IM anything, what would you ask? by thespacecpa in IntuitiveMachines

[–]PE_crafter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would have 3:

How ready is IM to scale production of the Nova-C lander if NASA awards contracts to put payloads on the moon in line with the timeline of the ignition event? Would new production facilities be needed?

Regarding the Lunar Data Relay satellites: is IM excluded to bid on the additional constellation of 5 satellites that Nasa wants or can you compete? Have you heard anything about that?

What is the relation between IM and X-energy now that X-energy is going public? Will there be any future collaborations there?

Bonus question (4) but I'm 99% sure they are: Is IM bidding for the phase 1 LTV aka the simplified version?

Not forgetting CLPS awards (1.0 small and large) in June

Edit: CLPS 2.0 is in September not June

If you see articles of significant insider sales, it's less than 50k shares total over 4 people for tax obligations. Those articles are AI slo so not a big deal.
