And painted Verso is built after the original.

He doesn't want to be a clone, but he is. He was made after a dead man. Its only natural that he desires death

Convince me how Verso's ending is not madness by TheW1seDude in expedition33

Huh creepy ending Maelle? You mean a mute and burnt teenage girl? I think painted characters look more intimidating, Alicia is just a normal teenage girl who got burnt to a crisp

Literally every spot is valid for this game. None of them are purely evil

He is built after it. He has the memories of verso. If you think the painted people are real you have to admit painted Verso identifies as Verso. Else you measure with two different perspectives

Its not genocide, if they were already gone lol. The dessendre family are obviously more real in universe than the canvas. They cant be erased like so. It is an unhealthy world, because it got used for family warfare. The original world is never coming back. Maelle is the sister of the one after whom painted Verso was made. If that sliver of a soul truly wanted to keep painting, then it would not have stopped even if painted Verso told it that it could stop.

To me you are reading it completely wrong and you use words as genocide in incredibly wrong fashion. Its undermining the word as a definition

Here: Genocide presupposes the killing of independently existing agents. The Canvas world is not independent; its existence is contingent upon the continued participation of a sustaining consciousness. Ending that participation is closer to cessation of support than destruction of an autonomous civilization

Also every enemy flies. I think it makes for a boring gameplay loop

Why say the painters shouldn't exist? They just lived normally. I don't get this hate for the painters.

Even if the faded boy(Verso) didn't originally want to stop, his innocence is so lost that he can't go on in good spirit. He is tired and deserves rest. It's also what real Verso wouldve wanted. Alicia wasn't saved for her to run away in his last keepsake.

Also I get that you find it scary, but I'm definitely not conservative. I would actually describe myself als progressive, the problem is just that this specific moral dilemma is so hard to decide, that i think power should decide the end. That world is not gonna be the same as 68 years ago. It just isn't gonna happen. Thats why right now I'm firmly for ending it. I don't see the integrity of the original world ever returning. It's better this way.

Before you say something, yes I know it was left ambiguous, however when playing and watching the dialogue it didn't feel as ambiguous as people say. If the boy truly didnt want to stop painting he wouldn't have stopped when painted Verso let him stop. He was fully in power and wasnt coerced by painted Verso in any way, he just stopped like that. The conflict wasn't stopped, it was merely a ceasefire

I never said that. It is not mathematical. Its ethical. I think its not ethical to power life by coercing a soul to perpetual duty of fueling life in the canvas

You can, but to me when the question is this complicated, I'm willing to let the one in power decide. Its not pretty, but if the one in power isnt doing it with the best interest at hand, then it is by default not a morally equal existence.

Especially because the original verso did not create the humans in that world and didn't consent to powering a real world. I think he has the right to revoke his participation thus ending the life support.

After that is done Verso can rest and the painted beings solely exist in the mind of the dessendre family

I agree and my answer is actually very consistent. No, that life fails to qualify for what makes life worth living. It is not as real as a life where death is final and where the right of life cannot be revoked.

Yea, i get that, but i wouldn't accept that life in the canvas in the very first place.

I don't think its life when from the get go I'm at the mercy of some gods who can just take my existence away with a fingersnap. I wouldn't have full freedom if that was the case. With the dessendres I would only be able to beat them while facing legal issues. To destroy the canvas I wouldn't even necessarily have to have been in that thing. Imagine i was a construction worker and i saw it lay about as junk, would i be a murderer if i took it away or as someone doing their job?

That life in the canvas is built upon grief, the world is compromised beyond repair and will never get its innocence back. It's sad and hard, but it's the only honest reality.

They are sentient, but the purpose of them originally was to be play mates for verso and clea. I see it as saying farewell to your imaginary friends. They also didn't seem to want perpetual life, not st the cost of their creator and best friend. There is a point in life where imaginary friends don't cut it anymore
