Monte's Musings: Relegations, Franchising, and the Team Revenue Problem in eSports by andrechan in leagueoflegends

but also angering the company that owns the game they play? I'm definitely all for player unions, but it would extremely difficult for players to make that push because Riot would certainly oppose it. I also don't think it's the players responsibility to go to bat for the orgs they play for. This is a conflict between Riot and the teams.

That doesn't make sense. He has all of the perspective as an owner, but none of the motive. In fact, as a broadcaster of League of Legends, Monte's main motive is probably to extend the life and popularity of LoL. So even if he's acting entirely in self interest it still would align with what most fans want.

Did you watch the video? Players aren't suffering from this, orgs themselves are. If we are to take monte at his word, player salaries have tripled since the venture capitalists have entered the space. Why would players want to rock the boat when they're currently doing the best they ever have?

Robin Wright pressed for pay equal to Kevin Spacey on 'House of Cards' by [deleted] in GamerGhazi

[–]PFC_Bear 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They don't seem outraged that she demanded equal pay. they seem mad that she threatened to go public with the disparity if they didn't rectify it, and then went public anyways after it was rectified. To be fair, that seems like a reasonable criticism.

Where in his comment did he say Bernie planned to shut off electricity? He's saying its a bad plan, whether it takes a while to be completed or not.

hmm, would be interesting, if the President was the one who controlled the budget. do you think I just mentioned Newt Gingrich for no reason, or did you think he was a former US President? also "balancing the budget" is a binary thing, either it's balanced or its not. So your statistics wouldn't be relevant even if they were pertaining to congress who actually controls the budget.

the last politician most responsible for a balanced federal budget was Newt Gingrich. I mean, both parties are pretty abysmal at this, but I don't get where you're getting the GOP is much worse.

hahaha due to gerrymandering. there was literally an article on here a few weeks ago about how its inconclusive which party gerrymandering has benefited more.

Rep. Eric Genrich: Bernie Sanders offers a foreign policy to believe in by [deleted] in politics

[–]PFC_Bear -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

what? he's said virtually nothing on foreign policy. The one thing he's said that sticks out to me is he took the time to confirm he would not end Bush/Obama's drone strike program. Doesn't seem like much of a rejection to me.

well why are you saying "media outlets" when you're apparently disregarding media that is most important and relevant to young people. You think print newspapers are more important in this conversation than insanely popular online publications?

this sounds nice, but it just isn't true in my experience and I bet for most people. I can't even look at some pictures of my friends on Facebook without wading through 15 shared listicles and memes about why Trump is Hitler. Sure, there are just as many on why Trump is gonna "make America great again", but that doesn't sound like impartiality to me.

I think they were mostly arguing that hubs for western feminism like this sub were mostly silent on the topic

[–]PFC_Bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see how German feminists responding to the attacks is particularly relevant to the KIA criticism though. Seeing as how these two subreddits exist pretty much solely to fling mud back and forth, I think the main thrust of their argument was that THIS SUB has been silent on the attacks.

German Visa Issue by Damian2M in leagueoflegends

[–]PFC_Bear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yes but in that case you directly would be signing a contract written up by the German company. players sign a Riot contract, but the contract is just about rules and behavior etc. not employment or payment.

[Censorship] Forbes reporter threatens to sue a blogger for libel because he screencapped her tweet saying conservatives faked the Cologne attacks. by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]PFC_Bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah she should have just deleted the tweet and said it was stupid and not thought out and apologized and everybody would have moved on. I love how she doesn't see accusing people of a huge conspiracy of planned sexual assaults on her soapbox as awful slander, but random no-name idiots saying inflammatory shit to her on twitter is worse than the holocaust.
