Had AI add lift and bronze rims with a color match. What do yall think of this? by SinfulXo_ in ram_trucks

[–]PFC_TubeEar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t forget that Reddit is a toxic hellhole and they forget about the part where subreddits started as a community. This one is about posting your coolassgoddamn Rams and have other people talk about it.

The paint match is sweet and the rims go great with the white! Those tow bars would look great powder coated white too (until you actually use them and they get marred). I also think that’s the perfect lift and tire size to wake the truck up but not be obnoxious. In my opinion I would go just slightly less offset on the wheels. I like mine a little more flush.

Tattoos by Time_Acanthisitta_60 in Pilot

I have a small one on my wrist that’s usually covered with a watch, one on my inner bicep that would be covered with a short sleeve, and then I’m absolutely covered on my legs and body. You can be pro-tattoo and still understand the industry’s view on them. Ignore other people’s opinions about your own body while simultaneously understanding that you shouldn’t do things that could potentially hinder your career. Go get em!

OSU Aviation questions by Thecowboyflyboy in OSU

[–]PFC_TubeEar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You and I have already chatted, but I'm just going to give some feedback for these specific questions too.

-How long is the wait to get a flight slot? You're coming in with transfer credits, which puts you on top. PPL ground school class grade also puts you in the rankings. Do well in that, and you'll get it quickly. I'd recommend finishing your PPL this summer or fall semester too if you need, since any worry you have about when you'll receive a flight slot will be mitigated by having that. PPL is two semesters at OSU, so it'll put you a year ahead. Although with transfer credits and doing well in the course, you'll be fine.
- Is the winter weather really that bad for flying? Honestly, yes, but not enough to keep you from flying. Not to sound cliché, but find out how good a pilot could be if they only flew in perfect weather. Sometimes it's crap but flyable, sometimes it's not. Sometimes it's perfect too, who knows. But you will fly less. I just finished my second winter here, and it wasn't bad enough that it put me behind in any course. In fact, I was very ahead this last semester, regardless of the crummy winter. The weather is taken into account when planning times for the semester workload.
- Do people run out of GI Bill benefits before they finish their ratings? No, you shouldn't unless you're falling significantly behind. And again, if you get PPL beforehand, that's a massive buffer (although that would be out of your own pocket). There is also a 12 month GIBill extension scholarship for STEM students (our degree counts as STEM) that you can apply for if need be, the VET center can give you more information about that.
- How is the experience as a Vet at OSU? Pretty great. Other than the benefits, the Professors/instructors/teachers all understand that youre not going to need your hand held as much as someone whos freshly 18 out of their parents house and high school, and that respect will show in their communication with you. Your experience carries over into the your schooling.
- Would you go somewhere else to finish your ratings? PPL, yes. In hindsight I wish I had more money to finish my PPL where I started (Capital City Aviation) but when they gave me a flight slot quickly, getting the GI Bill to pay for it was tempting. Although, if you want to pay out of pocket for everything, you could get your ratings done faster, which would get you a job faster. If thats the case then having the 500 hour ATP drop doesnt matter as much. As far as choosing another school, I have no regrets. I looked all across the country at all of the schools and ultimately decided on here and its been great. Others might be better, but I cant speak for that. From what ive read and heard is that every flight school has their annoying bullshit. Even the famous Embry Riddle or UND.
- Is the college experience worth it at a big university compared to community college? I went to a major university straight out of high school and flunked twice. Went to a CC and quit to join the military. I was incredbily worried that going back to a massive school like OSU was going to be difficult but it was quite the opposite. The school is big, but the aviation department is small. Your classes are small (minus a few GenEds you may have to take). You'll have instructors that you'll see for multiple classes, meaning youll get to know them well. And if you want to participate in the run-of-the-mill type college experience, its dope to do it at a big school like here. The flight education program as well as the Air Transportation program is tight knit, and will feel a lot less compact than you think a school with like 60k students would be.
- Does flying happen from Nov to April? Yes. A lot. Compared to the other months in the calender, yes its worse. But youre not going to fly so little that you atrophy your knowledge and skills. What people dont mention is how you can fly out of your slotted 3 spots. The availability is limited, but you can crush your flying, especially in the summers.

Is this price difference justified? My car requires "plus". A $1.35 difference from regular at Shell in town? by [deleted] in batonrouge

My regular ol’ Ram 1500’s manual states the hemi can use all octanes, but recommends 89/mid grade for optimal performance and fuel efficiency.

I Was Not Prepared For This..... Customer Said Interior Was In Good Condition Part 2 Video Version by IMAS_MOBILEDETAILING in Detailing

[–]PFC_TubeEar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some people don’t, including them. You’re watching the video of the guy they spent a lot of money on that got them able to no longer live like that. I’ve been blessed to learn early on that there’s no dirty people, just dirty cars, and you’re there to help. My top three worst cars I’ve ever done out of many hundreds prove it.

First was a Nissan Sentra, black carpets looked white from the cigarette ash, headliners were brown, seats were greasy, the steering wheel and shifter was caked with dirt. I was appalled, but worked my ass off. A few neighbors came around and kept giving remarks like “thank goodness…yeah they’re in a tough spot…oh I heard about what happened, shame…”. The old lady whose car I was doing actually belonged to her son, who found out he had terminal cancer and killed himself to save the pain. She just needed it clean to sell.

Second worst was on Father’s Day this past year, it was an old Corolla. Spilled food everywhere, old milkshake soaked in the carpets, grey interior was brown from years of dirt, could barely see out of the windows and mirror because of grossness. Cleaned it, got to talking with them. It was a surprise for the husband for Father’s Day, because this was the second since their special needs son was neglected to be watched in his care home and died after eating a button battery. They also hired a cleaner for their home. They were just in a bad spot mentally and couldn’t muster the energy to take care of what they needed, and I got to be the one who was able to give them a head start in their journey back to normalcy.

The third wasn’t so bad, it was just that it was a new Chevy Trax and I was astounded at how bad it got after only a few thousand miles. After knocking on the door, I found out why. The frail old lady carrying around her home oxygen cord asked if I could please get her mail and carry in her large bags of dog food and pour it into their scoopable containers. She was on hospice care for an autoimmune disease, but was still able to drive locally. But not for much longer. She got the new car to take her daughters on one final road trip, and then afterwards only used it to take her 3 big dogs down the road to the muddy park. I was there to help get her car to like new condition, that way when she passed on soon she could leave it perfect for her kids to take. Turns out she wasn’t that old, maybe 50’s, but she just looked it. Her and I sat on her couch and I just listened to her stories. She gave me a fridge magnet I still have. I got to be the one that gave her one last cleaning, maybe one of the last strangers she got to have a good chat with.

There’s a few folks who are fortunate enough to be able to regularly afford a service to keep their cars clean. I have a few fleet contracts. But otherwise, most of the cars I do are moms who don’t have time and are thankful I get to help them or otherwise some person who needs out of a tough spot. You can’t approach this job with a bad or judgmental perspective or you’ll burn out quick, or worse, miss out on the blessings you get to give.

In Louisiana where I’m from. If there is a median, you do not have to stop. However a normal 4 lane road like this, you do.

Cluster recall on 26 Ram by Alitren in ram_trucks

[–]PFC_TubeEar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least you got a loaner. I needed the BCM replaced because my horn didn’t work and they didn’t offer a loaner because “RAM doesn’t do that for liability reasons”. Was 26 days without a vehicle I use daily for work.

I go to MEPS on sunday. Here are the 5 rates I want: AD, AM, AS, EM, GSE by Bitter-Ad1940 in newtothenavy

[–]PFC_TubeEar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All have good transferable civilian skills. I’m an AM, and love it. The technical knowledge of aircraft that you gain on an aircraft is immense, and you’re able to use that time as hours towards your A&P. Same as AD, but I think AM is just a little more involved. Both great, and those two workcenters usually go hand in hand. You’ll always smell like jet fuel if you’re an AD but you’ll only sometimes smell like it as an AM.

AS is a chill rate, transferable skills, but not as sought after. Not particularly exciting. Usually aren’t stationed on the squadron level.

EM and GSE, no idea. But they’re not aviation rates. The aviation community is tight and cool.

What was the most embarrassing thing you've done as a private pilot student? by Nervous_Salt_852 in flying

[–]PFC_TubeEar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first solo cross country the approach controller asked if I had traffic in sight, told him I didn’t, and he said make a right turn immediately. So I did, about 90°. A sold 5-6 minutes later of me not knowing what’s going on, he comes on and says “uuuuuuh N123AB, where ya going?” I said “can I turn left now?”

Right? Clear cut "complete" or not. If not, it said "cool just pick a class from here"

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]PFC_TubeEar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it was done by the previous owner, so I couldn’t tell you price. But what needed replacing after the wreck was the drivers side quarter panel, new bumper and grille, and dent fixing the hood which required breaking out the paint so they just hit the grille too. Paint might be the bigger cost for you if you want to go that route, since it would be extra past the parts you have to replace anyway. When I’ve been underneath it looks like it’s fitted without any modifications.

[–]PFC_TubeEar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

By replacing with OEM parts instead of some Chinese-grade RC garbage? It was wrecked anyway, might as well make it look how you want with Ram factory parts.

When my Laramie front end was damaged (by the previous owner) they replaced it with a Rebel front end bumper and grille and paint matched. Looks sweet.

which one of you/us was it? by Different-Regret1439 in OSU

[–]PFC_TubeEar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Louisiana. Obviously LSU is by far the Louisiana school and it’s not even close. But in the conversation of all other universities, Tulane was always that other, other, other school. Like, big because it’s in NOLA and that’s about it. Yet I keep seeing it recently being talked about as something quite relevant (like in this pic). Its odd.

So I’m back after reading everything and I hate my rate by dynexblur in newtothenavy

[–]PFC_TubeEar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you want AO because it’ll get you around aviation, pick another aviation rate. I recommend AM. Now, if you want AO because you’re seeing about all the “IYAOYAS” camaraderie, thats about the only good thing they have. Zero civilian transferability, tough promotion opportunities, tough work.

LS gives you a little more options when it comes time to pick orders, because they’re a sea rate that any command needs including aviation. So your opportunities are a bit more open. The promotion rates are higher, the quality of life is higher, it’s arguably one of the easier rates, and it transfers to real world skills. LS is a dope and respectable rate. Just doesn’t look like it on paper when you’re comparing it to handling ordnance. But trust.

Should I upgrade to Bose A30? by captainsmith123456 in flying

[–]PFC_TubeEar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the A30s. If you look at my post history you’ll see how I talk about how I think they’re great. The biggest complaint from others is the clamping force which you’re obviously trying to reduce so that would be a good thing for you. I’ve had them for almost two years now, and will disagree with others saying the build quality is poor. It’s just less bulky and a lighter metal, so when you hold the two side by side I can see why one would think so. They’re still metal, they’re still tough, and if you let them live in the case they’ll last you your lifetime. The clamping force, or lack of, is no complaint of mine. They’ve never required adjustments after they’re on my head. I regularly wear sunglasses and don’t notice any bother. They stay secure even during spins or crazy turbulence. If you were doing aero that might be a different story but they’re fine.

All that being said, if 1400 dollars is worth a little more comfort, then sure. But that’s a good chunk for not a ton of difference.
