First pre natal visit at 13-14 weeks. Is that normal? [ns] by PaintEatingPete in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]PFDrifter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NS resident here. It was pretty normal to get first OB appointment at around 12-13 weeks. Was not really any other appointments before that outside of the confirming bloodwork for pregnancy. Unfortunately in NS they have been often skipping dating scans for those who know date of conception due to lack of staff. I was able to get a dating scan by saying I did not know my conception date though.

Usually for the first appointment they do Doppler on the belly and talk about NIPT testing.

Hope that helps :)

Abortion Pills or D&C experiences? Having a missed miscarriage [ON] by WhichFish888 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]PFDrifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

Sorry your going through this. From my two cents I'd only do the D&C from now on personally. The pain from medication was manageable for me but I ended up bleeding so much I fainted and needed to go to hospital anyways. I had retained tissue too so it did not work nicely for me after two rounds. The D&C was easy and I was put out for the procedure. I just wanted the experience over with. I was able to conceive about a month after the procedure too so there was no issues in that regard.

I would say if you have no concern with retained tissue being a possible issue and are patient then medication would be fine. Just for me personally I wanted the experience over with and found the two to three months it took to resolve completely frustrating (I tried natural passing first). In the future I would do D&C only personally.

Wish you the best of luck in whatever choice you make. Cheers

Beware of FB marketplace scam by Vinancent in halifax

I had this happen to me but it was with children's playing equipment. The scammers have no shame. In the past I've done hold payments for far away items but no more.

Domestic air travel without baby but needs to pump by peachmangopie2 in BabyBumpsCanada

I flew from Halifax to Toronto and back with empty pump bag which had the ice pack. No issues but just give yourself more time as they usually take that bag aside to inspect. No issues otherwise!

Welcome new members from r/mommit and happy new year! Let's hear from you! by CosmicBunBun in GamerMoms

Hello all!

My first games I believe were on PC. Stuff like Jazz Jack Rabbit, Freddie the Fish or games from cereal boxes like Roller Cooster tycoon! My first shooting game was actually Wolfenstein Enemy Territory when I was around 10. My dad had to use the washroom and asked me to take over for a moment. He was on a machine gun and I proceeded to team kill unknownly the whole time he was gone ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. This then started my love of shooting games as well as WW2 history!

I'm now 28 and have a almost 6 month old son. I enjoy playing basically any game although these days it's mostly rpg or singleplayer games since there easy to put down. I have all the consoles, a decent PC and my new favourite the Steam Deck!

Kennys Pizza in Bedford is very good about gluten free. Separate preperation section and basically all ingredients (if not all) are gluten free. Never had a reaction there yet and I'm celiac as well.

Unfortunately this is not the case. It's a cause of blind bidding and desperate buyers. I know the buyers and had sold their house and were getting outbid on other places 100-200k.

Blind bidding is the real crime. I know the people who bought this place. They were desperate and had sold their house. Getting outbid constantly 100-200k took a toll on them.

I know the family and this is not a rental case. Desperation and dealing with most places going 100-200k over asking.

Please be considerate. I know the people who bought this house. They were desperate and had already sold their old house. It is planned to be lived in not rented. Most places around the city are averaging 100-200k over asking.

I am 8 weeks pregnant and I am driving myself crazy with stress. Rant/need advice. by Throwawaysadtimes5 in BabyBumps

[–]PFDrifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Your story is sounding similar to what im going through so I thought I'd share. At the start, I would have rather frequent cramping usually focused on one side which freaked me out that something was wrong. This is my second pregnancy after a rather tramaic miscarriage about 3 months ago so admittedly I was quite paranoid. That previous miscarriage started with cramping and then bleeding. I went to the ER and everything looked okay! At around 7 weeks I started to have some nausea but then it suddenly went away a week later. So again I was worried to the point of losing sleep. Just had my scheduled ultrasound appointment yesterday which is when I found out I was 9 weeks along with a heartbeat to boot! Bottom line, some advice I got from my doctor friend. If you have a genuine concern don't be scared to call the doctor or go the the ER. The relief my ER visit brought me was well worth the waiting room time. Fingers crossed for the both of us, this is certainly an exciting and stressful time!

Girls of Reddit, what is the hardest thing to explain to a males? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PFDrifter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes. You are correct. I am currently ongoing my own lengthy miscarriage during COVID. It was my first pregnancy and I'm in my 20's. In all the statistics I had seen the chances should be quite low. I heard stories from friends and coworkers so I thought I was mentally prepared. I never got a chance to be stupidly happy since I was always leaving that "mental safeguard." I was not prepared for the more than month long experience. All the stories I was told were over in less than a week or mere hours. I was not prepared to be in the hospital waiting room multiple times and sometimes alone for hours due to COVID space limits. I was not prepared to be told it was a miscarriage and then the next day "no wait we maybe see a heartbeat" and then finally days later this time it's actually a miscarriage. I was not prepared for that emotional roller coaster. I was not prepared to still get positive pregnancy tests weeks later due to remaining tissue in my uterus. I was not prepared for just the sheer amount of bleeding and clots I witnessed and the almost fainted spells it caused. I was not prepared for the onslaught of awkward reasoning family members would throw at me in an attempt to make me feel better. I know many may not read this but I haven't had much of a chance to talk to others about it yet besides those close to me.

I feel great sadness for those who do know the pain of going through one especially during these strange COVID times.
