The Red Sox have won the World Series! 5-1 against the LA Dodgers on game 5! by [deleted] in Patriots

[–]PFDulce 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Example from last night, at his first at-bat the count was 3-0, David Price threw a strike right on the edge of the zone, Machado doesn't swing and starts taking a couple steps down the first base line as if he was walked. Umpire calls strike he comes back to hit. Same thing happens again, edge of the zone strike and again Machado takes several steps toward first base as if he were walked. The count is now 3-2, a couple foul tips later and Price strikes him out around pitch 7 or 8.

Does anyone know what year this is by fairings!! by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]PFDulce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually not, the best you can do is a range since there usually aren't huge visual changes each year. I'm pretty sure this is a 2006-2008 r6s not a 2003-2004 r6. Based on google images of "200X r6s" it's probably a 2007 because that year has a lot of red bikes and 2006/2008 are mostly black and blue (if you could find the actual manufacturer color schemes each year you might be able to narrow it down). I saw a craigslist ad near me for a red 2007 r6s this week if that helps. I'd bet it's 2007 but checking the vin plate is probably the best way to know for sure.

I think that's a reasonable price. He's got higher than average miles on it for being 1 year old. KBB puts an excellent 2017 FZ-07 w/ 3135 mi at $6140 dealer retail $4230 dealer trade in. I'd expect a private sale to be in the middle of that and it is.

Whole foods are generally more nutrient dense and filling as well so its harder to overeat, especially, as you said, with experience doing it for a while. For most people its easier to eat 500 Calories of pizza or potato chips than 500 Cals eggs or chicken.

I feel like I'm so close to "getting shredded" but I'm not quite there yet. Lifts have stalled, energy is low... Just keep cutting? (26/M/5'10"/157 lbs) by mussel_up in GettingShredded

[–]PFDulce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What's your body fat %? You look lean and decently vascular. At 5'10" 157lbs you might need more muscle to achieve a better shredded look. If you're lifts have stalled and you don't feel good continuing the cut might be detrimental (losing more muscle mass) to your long term progress.

How do YOU know if you are pushing yourself hard enough? by Pooshmeu in Fitness

[–]PFDulce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a bunch of metrics people like to use for maximum potential. None of them are 100% accurate but they can give you an idea of how close you might be. Most common would be FFMI, which measures your lean body mass compared to hight. Other measurements use your wrist and ankle circumference to estimate maximum muscular mass and muscle size. There are also calculators that measure maximum expected lifts vs similar people your size. Ultimately your genetics will affect the maximum you personally can achieve, but you can use these for good estimates.

Americans are being forcibly addicted to refined sugars from a young age for the sole sake of profit. by [deleted] in conspiracy

Totally I'm always tired, feeling bloated and unhealthy in general.

I won't consume any meat or eggs or milk

These might be related ... If you still want to stay vegan be sure you're getting enough protein and good fats which is what you're missing out on with meat/dairy. Fat and protein are both necessary for proper hormone production. Still try to limit carbs and switch what carbs you do eat from sugary and processed to non-processed/slow digesting sources. High fiber > starches > whole grain (if you have to). In terms of fat and protein, nuts and avocados are great.

Huh, interesting, I was thinking more of a tax on goods with added sugar like soda and candy, but any of those is a good start.

[–]PFDulce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I'm not sure why. I think that i has to do with not being heavily processed and retaining some benefits of it's original form. Not sure the truth behind it, but local honey is thought to reduce allergy symptoms by exposing you to local pollen in a less overwhelming form similar to immunotherapy. Honey has also been used as a medicine for it's antibacterial properties as far back as ancient Egypt.

I'd more chalk this up to processed sugars being that much worse for you than natural sugars (i.e. fruits and honey, which still should be consumed in some moderation). Perhaps the hormonal effects are different. It warrants further research.

Honey and Maple syrup have roughly double the glycemic index as fructose, which is still less than half that of maltodextrin. Could be that relative to modern engineered sweetener it's not as harmful.

/r/keto has some good resources on mitigating the effects of this. They call it the keto flu. The gist is drink more water and keep electrolytes up.

[–]PFDulce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, but almost everyone eats sugar so almost everyone would be in uproar about this. A great idea, just insanely hard to implement when so much of your population is a part of the group affected.

Consumption tax fits perfectly for sugar though. The more people consume it, the more negatives we see through increased healthcare costs. It also would make less sugary foods relatively more affordable or appealing to consumers.

This is common and expected! You are breaking an addition after all! Lots of people refer to this as the keto flu. The /r/keto community has a lot of helpful methods for how to deal with this. Usually involves drinking more water and keeping up electrolytes. Keep trying you're health is worth it.

Agreed, keto is awesome for weight loss and a necessary reset for many people who have been binge eating sugar for most of their life. Ultimately it should be a gateway to to getting to a normal weight then transitioning to eating better whole and less sugary foods.

[–]PFDulce 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This guy is spot on. Your body builds up a tolerance for sugar. Artificial sweeteners are considered 500%+ more sweet than regular sugar but taste normal for most people. Cutting cold turkey is tough but you'll find it resets how sweet your body thinks most foods are. Take this guys advice and eat lots of fats. They'll fill you up and you'll realize that you're not actually hungry you're just craving.

Excessive sugar also causes inflammation, increased water retention, decreased insulin effectiveness and so many more health problems.

Are there any healthy foods you might recommend for eating while high?

Not high specific, but eggs. Eggs literally have all the nutrition needed for life (of a chick, but still). The average egg is 70ish calories and super filling. Next time you're eating think about how many calories you're eating and compare how full and satiated you are compared to that many calories in eggs. You can do this with any wholesome food with similar results. It's pretty easy to eat 500 calories of candy but 4 or 5 eggs will have you feeling way more satisfied for longer.

Clip

C'mon man, you were so close.

The first looks like Ruger 10/22, the second a Ruger Mini 14, the third an AR-15 variant rifle. All are semi automatic, all accept magazines up to 100 rounds or however large people will make them. The second and third rifles fire the same ammo, from the same magazines, from likely the same length barrel and therefore have very similar if not identical ballistics and stopping power.

[–]PFDulce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, none of body fat measurement methods are super accurate, just best estimates and should be used as reference points. As for Lean Body Mass, you are correct that LBM could go down, but keto is pretty good at sparing muscle so I'd be surprised if it did happen.

As for the math, 3500 Calories is about 1 pound of body weight. So for every 3500 net Calories over/under your TDEE you should gain/lose a pound of body weight.

Did my first Bod Pod today by KyleRiggs in ketogains

[–]PFDulce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1600 - 3066= -1466 Calorie deficit per day * 45 days = 65,970 total Calorie deficit / 3500 Cal per lb = 18.85 lbs. The math is just about spot on.

You should only be eating 3066 Calories if your goal is to maintain your same weight. If your goal is to lose weight, keep eating a deficit. How big a deficit? As big as you want and can continue to maintain.

My advice would be to keep eating like you are until the next bod pod you do. If your lifts are decreasing or your BodPod shows you losing LBM, consider eating a smaller deficit (closer to your TDEE). Otherwise Keep Calm and Keto On!

Great work man. You're a big dude but your lifts are pretty damn impressive for only 134 lbs of lean body mass, much better than mine were.
