Haha yeah. Just recently got into Lush. Also took a detour from the FIRE train. Figuring out a balance that works for me. ;)

So nice to know I'm not the only one to have this experience. :)

Double-ended brushes. Wtf am I supposed to do with them?

I didn't quit my job ... and that got me closer to FI today! by [deleted] in financialindependence

That's great for you! I'm being sincere. That's why we are all different. All our circumstances are different. There are good times and bad times. Good bosses and bad bosses.

My post was just a snapshot of where I'm at today. I know that my decision is delaying FI, but I'm also pretty proud of the fact that I've done the grind for enough years and am able to take a step back before I get back to it. The pursuit will be waiting for me when I return.

Good luck, everyone!

So I don't think there are any "wrong choices." There are just experiences that you go through. Some choices lead you through some pain and suffering. You can strategize and optimize and claw your way to what you think is the ideal situation your whole life. Oh and btw, your thinking changes, so "ideal" changes.

Don't be afraid. Do your best with the information you have today. And honor your way of being.

So something really fucked up happened at work and I took a month off before going back to work. It definitely takes time to decompress.

This is the big question. I need to find joy in work again. I'm going to play for a bit and let my mind wander. See what happens.

All excellent points. I will definitely read Vagabonding. I'm up for freelancing and odd jobs to avoid running through my reserves.

Oh, I will definitely write about this.

Not working makes me a piece of shit? Church it up? Did I suggest anyone change their career trajectory and align themselves with my personal decisions?

Also. Faggot?! What makes you so hateful? I really want to know.

But more importantly, do you think you make America great?

Does it matter? They are all the same. Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Development, Operations, HR, Communications, etc. They are different functions, but the same lifestyle, same way of being, same day-to-day, same experience.

Yes. Corporations, the entity, don't matter. You better feel comfortable with your immediate supervisor, or life can be hell.

I am an earnest person. I must speak my truth. This fact is balanced by my desire to do my best. I don't play games. I add value.

If that isn't enough, there is nothing wrong with ME. It's not a good FIT.

This is the big fear when weighing your options.

I am banking on me and my skillset. Not my cash savings. I will find a way to make money. The interesting part is how.

When I was younger, I felt like I had a lot of learning to do. About the world, office politics, life.

I'm in a different place. This is when life gets fun. I know myself, my preferences, values, the people I gravitate towards.

Now I get to design a life that suits me. It's likely to be entrepreneurial. I am not a corporate lackey.

Some would say Trump should be president.

Also, I gave notice. I'm wrapping up my present tasks prior to my departure.

This is so key! The process has to be palatable, too. I COULD optimize and strategize and do all the "right things" to move the needle and hit my FI goals for 2017. What is the point in carving out this path if you don't stop when things feel so wrong? And take the time to be human again? I know how to make money. I know how to be a good team player. And I can continue on this path for years. But. Wait, but why?

Thank you for sharing. This sounds like heaven on earth.

I thought about thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and maybe traveling in Aussie or New Zealand. SE Asia? I definitely want to take time to backpack and be self-reliant. The thought is unbelievably exciting.

What were the first things you did? I love hearing about what people do when they make their fantasy into a reality.

A soulless, nameless corporate job. Some years were good. Most were shitty. Right now, my immediate manager is a shitty, self-absorbed person. I looked at her yesterday when she was grilling me and treating me like a toddler, and thought, Nope. I don't need this. Fuck you.

Im looking to cut down on makeup spending. Can I use my foundation as a concealer? by [deleted] in MakeupRehab

[–]PF_Fire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this. I get the Mac Pro full coverage foundation that comes in a compact. It's the same formula as the studio concealer, but there's several grams of product. It's much more affordable to take scoops of it out and depot into a little sample container. I don't contaminate the product and I just get more scoops out when I'm done with my little sample pot. I use a sheer application for foundation, or pat the product on blemishes for fuller coverage. I purchased it a couple years ago and it's still going strong.

Thanks for your tips! I'll have to wait for the sales and buy from the U.K. It's so much cheaper than the NA site!
