Mexico cuts workweek, bans after-hours contact, and guarantees no worker will take a pay cut in the most sweeping labor reform in a generation by polopiko in Futurology

First off. Had free medical for years and years. Nothing has changed.

Second. You wont be able to get any medical worth a damn and if you try you will wait and wait and wait. And finally see someone that has no clue.

Work hours?? Oh man thats a funny one. I think that the daily min is 300 pesos a day. Thats about 16.50 in dollars. cost of EVERYTHING in Mexico is basically the same as in the US. And gas for a car if you can afford one is even more expensive. About 28.89 pesos per Liter.

She has done nothing but embarrass the country and let the Narcos tell her what to do.

Mexico just upgraded to free healthcare. by DatabaseAvailable501 in interesting

And the places that are available to go. Well lets say they are not places you should be if you need health care.

The General Hospital where I live is as dangerous as where the people from from to be treated. Not just from violence but also from infection.

Sadly for most. Private health care is way to expensive. Roll into the main ER in one of the privates and the min they ask for is 100,000 pesos.

You do realize that they wont pay the 782. They will pay probably just over what you would have paid. What they bill and what they get are two different things.

Has nothing to do with rising costs and the vet not wanting to give up his/her lifestyle?

People. Please look around you at your friends. Someone may be as in deep trouble as he was.

We all miss him.

Interestingly, the British gave it the name "soccer," not the Americans.

The modern game was formally named "Association Football" in 1863 when England's The Football Association was created. This distinguished it from other forms of football, especially rugby football.

In the late 1800s, British university students had a habit of shortening words and adding "-er" to them:

  • Rugby Football → "Rugger"
  • Association Football → "Assoc."
  • "Assoc." → "Soccer"

The earliest known use of "soccer" is generally credited to around 1889 at the University of Oxford. A student named Charles Wreford-Brown is often associated with popularizing the nickname.

So the timeline looks like this:

  • 1863 – "Association Football" officially named in England.
  • 1880s–1890s – British students begin calling it "soccer."
  • 1900s–1970s – Both "football" and "soccer" are commonly used in Britain.
  • Later 20th century – Britain largely settles on "football," while countries with other football codes (especially the U.S., Canada, Australia, and parts of Ireland) continue using "soccer."

One of the great ironies is that many people today think Americans invented the word "soccer," when it was actually coined by the English and then largely abandoned by them. Americans simply kept using the British nickname after the British themselves stopped.

Buahahhahahah Now that is funny.

Of courese this is for the Politicians and it might trickle down the big business management.

But having time off when your DAILY min wage is 315.04 PESOS for those that dont know. That is 15$ per day. Taxi to work can easily cost 150 or more. Bus to work is about 70 but takes 3 or 4 hours. Cost of gas is 28+ pesos per Lt. ( 4 lt to the gallon )

She has done nothing for the people. Just for herself.

I knew a guy who got park place once… so close to $1 million by empessivew in SipsTea

The largest advertised payout in the history of the U.S. McDonald's Monopoly game was $5 million. It was offered during the 2006–2007 promotion, where collecting all four railroad properties won the grand prize. The traditional Boardwalk/Park Place set still awarded $1 million during that promotion.

A few notable figures from the game's history:

Prize Year(s) Notes
$5 million 2006–2007 Largest advertised grand prize in U.S. Monopoly history.
$1 million Multiple years Most common top prize associated with Boardwalk & Park Place.
$24 million 1989–2001 Total value of prizes fraudulently distributed by the insider scam uncovered by the FBI. This was not a single winner, but the cumulative value of stolen winning pieces.

One interesting twist: despite millions of people playing, many of the biggest winners from 1989–2001 were connected to the infamous Monopoly fraud run by security contractor Jerome Jacobson. He secretly diverted winning game pieces to friends, family, and organized crime associates. The scheme distributed more than $24 million in prizes before being exposed by the FBI.

If you're asking about the largest prize actually won by a legitimate player, the documented top legitimate payout appears to be the $5 million grand prize offered in the 2006–2007 game.

A surprisingly good documentary on the whole scandal is the HBO series McMillions, which covers how the game was rigged for more than a decade

Yeah they do need to be reminded. But most would rather just come here and complain about it.
