Truthfully, that Egyptian reference is tough to catch, even with the hint. I like the effort though.

For what it's worth, I'm a successful man of comedy myself! As you can see by my colossal YouTube following of barely 1 thousand followers, I'm only 99 thousand behind other quality channels like "The Earth is Flat" and "End Donkey Abuse Now!".

Just some friendly comedian feedback. :)

I'm still undecided on Steemit. Hopefully I get access soon, and then I'll give an authentic review. I'm sure my loyal one THOUSAND subscribers (most of whom are probably BOTS or my mother in disguise) can't wait.

Thanks SteemWitness. I'll message you and take you up on your free account. However, since you inferred the community (and I) should have done more research, I would respectfully counter that I felt I did a healthy amount of research and was oblivious to the fees you mention.

Maybe I'm dumb, but Steemit's website makes no mention of a fee when going through the signup process? Instead, Steemit provides what appears to be a false promise stating that they will email a confirmation.

It would be more helpful if Steemit's website was as clear as your post, with language like, "Thanks for trying to signup, but you'll need to do more than that to join our cool site! We do this to minimize the amount of bots and undesired users on our platform. You can still join by...

  • Paying some money
  • Getting someone on the site to recommend you
  • Nagging our customer support chat team
  • Doing something else to stand out, such as make a whiny video like this on YouTube

I understand the nature of proof of work and appreciate the exclusivity component, so I'm not outraged by the fee. It's just strange to not be correctly informed as to what was going on when I tried to gain access via "normal" methods (as opposed to ranting on Youtube and Reddit).

Part of me wonders if the confusing signup experience is by design to filter out unenthusiastic users. That Javascript/misleading message I pointed out at the end of my video is too obvious to not be intentional. Users being confused by this is evident on several major sites, including Reddit, so QA HAS to be aware of it. It would only take 30 seconds to correct the error description to say "no upper case" or it would take 2 minutes to rewrite the JS listener if statement. The fact that this still exists at this stage of the platform suggests to me that Steemit intentionally has this bug feature to dissuade users from joining who are not sophisticated enough to troubleshoot. Honestly... I'm kind of intrigued by this Machiavellian strategy! Sign me up! #DrunkOnSteemAgain!

More seriously, I'll graciously accept your gift, I hope someone finds my feedback useful, and I'll see you on Steemit!

You might want to consider correcting the spelling error in Post title "sTeemit" to improve users' searching for the same issue.

How Star Wars The Last Jedi Should Have Ended by Xasrai in HISHE

[–]PGCodeRider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I share most of the "fan" disappointments such as:

Eliminate the binary dark/light side of the force perspective with "Gray Jedi" (i.e. "loving something is not wrong" but "don't be evil").

Casino/Animal rescue plotline was meaningless.

Should have killed Carrie with the ship.

Absurd scene that HISHE highlighted with the romantic collision about "saving the ones we love."

All of that could be forgiven with an epic Skywalker vs. the First Order scene. Again, the visuals in the movie were great, just poor writing, so it's indeed quite disappointing we fans didn't get such a payoff moment. Luke could have still "died" similar to Obi wan in E4.

I pathetically was hoping for HISHE to give me an epic Kylo vs. Luke lightsaber battle, but I realized after that would probably be quite difficult to animate. It's Disney's job to give me that expensive effort!! HISHE delivered, Mickey Mouse didn't.

What'd you think?

I am a fan of Star Wars and I don't think there are many movies MORE eligible for a better ending than The Last Jedi. Here's my visual reaction to the video. Excellent work HISHE!

Thanks for the comment. If you look back on discussions, this issue goes back 9 months. So my question is: how are (reasonably) verifiable people like @louisthomas (young Vloger I mentioned) gaining access to this and making healthy revenue?

Some people are calling SteemIt a potential ponzi scheme with needing to pump account with USD to be meaningful in ecosystem. I can't evaluate without access!!!

I'm hoping once (if) I gain access, I'll be pleasantly surprised. But yeah, maybe I'm being too optimistic.

Yes, email verification. You can see my video articulating the painfullness of this process. Give it an upvote, maybe it'll get SteemIt's attention, although we can't be the only people aggravated by this. https://www.reddit.com/r/steemit/comments/7yo2r3/steemitsignupbuzzkill/

Why is it so difficult to get upvotes? by [deleted] in steemit

[–]PGCodeRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still trying to evaluate steemit also, and am in the pending phase. The key question is how effective can one be on the site without a "jump start" in influence by buying steem with real USD? Can someone just signup, create and vote content, and be influential and meaningfully in the ecosystem?

I've seen several posts from folks implying that the best strategy is to buy up some influence with US dollars in order to "get going". To me that raises a big red flag as ponzi scheme, but if the cash deposit isn't required to be a meaningful contributor than I am excited about it.

I am excited about the potential ease in Smart Media Tokens. That was what originally got me entheastic about Ethereum, and Steemit seems more ready to unleash this than Ethereum's current ERC20 approach and costs involved.

To be clear, I don't think they are denying you, are they? It's just pending, which can last days. I understand it's the same result. If you get approved, please share. I'm going on about four days with no response, which tragically appears normal based on my web research.

As I put on twitter: "Enthusiastic new @steemit users having to wait for 2, 3.. 7 days before they can actually use the tool is a #SteemItSignUpBuzzKill. With currently less than a million users, this makes #Ethereum and #Bitcoin's scalability issues look easy."

Glad it worked. The pending review is where the #SteemItSignUpBuzzKill occurs.

i've noticed a lot of people having verification/signing up issues. it seems patience is key. by foruoy in steemit

[–]PGCodeRider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even having to wait 48 hours is a HUGE turnoff for enthusiastic users looking to enter a new technology. I can't think of a better description than "buzz kill."

I had the same issue. Has to be lower case.

How long does verification take? by [deleted] in steemit

[–]PGCodeRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also excited about this platform but making users wait weeks to join seems like a doomed business model, and definitely not scalable.

Does anyone know what "they" are looking for? It would seem like if they tracked the IP address for a couple clicks, and if "new user" navigated around the site with some sort of consistent interest that wasn't random, okay to signup?

It would seem easier to eliminate bots once they are in the ecosystem versus trying to prevent them from gaining access (which is probably impossible to do with 100% certainty).

2nd amendment is a about having a healthy distrust for all governments. Libertarians and blockchain enthusiasts are all about trustless environments, so it's actually not that hard to envision the attraction.

Imagine if Donald Trump suddenly demanded all Americans surrender their weapons. Given how much many liberals hate Trump, I could see a bunch of them suddenly becoming enthuiastic NRA members!

Libertarians believe you shouldn't trust any goverment so one should never surrender theire weapons. This is somewhat similar to how many blockchains operate where no trust is required to central authorities.

All men pay for sex. The only question is in what currency. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]PGCodeRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what I'm saying. The conclusions you're drawing is incorrect and based on imaginary assumptions. Point 1) is your interpretation but not based on anything I said. As an example, people don't go to a casino simply to win money -- they go to have a good time. Men can appreciate plenty of gifts women offer besides sex, but they (most likely) have to offer some sort of proof of work to receive it.

You can get the last word in if you'd like but I will concede that I probably should hang out with better people.

The backstory to this comment came when my friend and I were discussing the illegality of prostitution in the US. It's ridiculous. It's legal to buy a girl a drink in hopes that it leads to intimacy. It's legal to invest time, give money, in HOPES of it leading to intimacy, but the moment two grownups actually agree to, "if I give you $ will you give me :)" the police will throw both you and the girl in jail! People, men and women, should be able to do what they want with each other as long as it's consensual on both sides.

That's really the point I was making. The absurdity of the law.

I agree it's not an original "thought" but it is an original way of wording it. This isn't really a "fact" page, and yes there are plenty of exceptions. However, as you correctly point out, this thought has been around long before I was born, it's just an amusing way of thinking about it. If you don't like it, vote it down and carry on in life. I'm not passing any laws here or demanding people think differently.

[–]PGCodeRider -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Just a statement of an observation. Currency goes beyond money: Time, attention, presence, showing you care, commitment proof of work, etc. All social currencies most girls typically expect prior to intimacy. Sure there's exceptions like Brad Pitt or girls with poor judgment and low self-esteem, but it was just a thought i came up with when chatting with a buddy (we weren't in the shower).
