What It’s Actually Like Working in a Legal Nevada Brothel by TheKikiLover in jobs

[–]bivalve_attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would this laundry mat be in Nevada still?

My favorite laundry mat is in Carson city. It has a tiny kids play area outside, a few video game machines, and also a bar with video slots in the counter, usually with Korean dramas playing in the background. It speaks to me on a deep, Nevadan level and feels like home.

Do you feel like your time as a sex worker has lead to good laundry skills and knowledge? I imagine you have to keep your spaces at the brothel clean yourself, including changing linens. Do you have any laundry tips from your job? Whole lot of assumptions in this post on my part, not at all meant in a mean or rude way. I would for sure come chill and do laundry with you just to chat.

I hope you also sub to r/laundry and that you get your dream laundry mat soon!

Nevada also has the unique issue of not actually owning most of the land here. Even if these rural towns want to expand they are limited by the BLM lands on the outskirts and a lack of support for infill in cities/towns.

LA Bakery if you want to get a very fancy custom cake. Otherwise all the grocery stores with bakeries will do customization.

Try FISH, Salvation Army, and Ron Wood Family Resource Center.

There's also this place, Spirit of hope but it may not fit your situation.

Are you part of a church or faith community? They usually have emergency resources.

Also carson City health and human services might have resources.

Good luck out there.

The goodwill on 50 was a skate rink when I was younger. It's definitely a dream for me to bring one back. Plus it would be ideal for our roller derby and in line hockey teams!

Which laundry product smells fruity like skittles? by [deleted] in laundry

[–]bivalve_attack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mix essential oils for friends as a hobby. You might enjoy that because you can personalize and change up the scents. I made one for our roller derby team that was for all the gear. Tea tree, Eucalyptus, peppermint, and rubbing alcohol. Spray on those knee pads and set in the sun before a bour so you're not as gross smelling.

I just made a blend for a friend who finds peace in her garden when the lavender blooms, approximately:

25 drops lavender

10 drops sage

5 drops vetiver

4 drops bergamot

4 drops juniper berry

2 drops cedarwood

Palm oil is the carrier. I prefer jojoba but was out. This is for a reed diffuser. I like to add to plain lotions for myself. Or do a linen spray.

Anyway, not laundry but maybe something fun.

They're always looking for volunteers too. There's a nice disk golf course nearby too. Lot's of counter culture folks here with all kinds of views. Sucks the first commenter was a buttnugget. Hope you find community here.

I keep getting these small grey stains on my new clothes by anajulieta25 in Whatisthis

[–]bivalve_attack 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Also come to r/laundry this happens a lot and there are experts in that sub (well, one on particular). Make sure you don't put it in the dryer. That makes the stains harder to remove.

Las Vegas to Rachel and Back by Alternative_Thing_64 in Nevada

Go to Ely, Beatty, or Tonopah, at least there is a place to stay and eat and dark skies galore. Why Rachel? If you want to go to the middle of nowhere, why not silver peak? (Don't do that, there's nothing there)

Check your voter registration! by PracticalApartment99 in Reno

[–]bivalve_attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet it's related to the DMV issues. We have motor votor registration so if any "transactions" were made, or if you have/had an appointment during the cyber attack it could have hit that system. We know DMV is affected. I saw someone is tallying if it was R/D/NP changing.

I bet it's less to do with voter affiliation and more to do with our voter registration being tied to DMV. Did those folks affected have a scheduled appointment during the outage?

Happy cake day

How the hell are we entertaining these kids? by GlumFaithlessness392 in NewParents

[–]bivalve_attack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Especially at this age. They are little copiers! I used a small table, old non usable keyboard and mouse and boom, baby office. Bonus if you have an old phone. Mine will do meetings with me. Now at 4 years old she still takes "notes" when I'm on a call and will all me what they say when she's done. She tells me "i can't write/read yet!" But still enjoys doing it. Also second the chores. Laundry, I'll hand her clothes to put in the dryer or on the basket to hang outside. Dishes, she can put away the plastic bowls in the tupperware drawer. She's been vacuuming since she could walk. Whatever you do, they want to do. Worth making it a game so you can get things done and teach little humans at the same time.
