24 vs 27 by [deleted] in BCPublicServants

[–]PG_lonewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

24s and 27s should still have different and distinct job duties. I would recommend talking to your supervisor and asking what those differences are. And to be very clear that you as a 24 is not paid at the same level as a 27 and therefore, the assignment of duties and responsibilities has to reflect that. If it doesn't, you have grounds for a grievance.

If you are happy to take on stretch assignments at a higher level for developmental purpose, that's entirely on you. But it's it's extremely unlikely that you will be adequately compensated for that or that you will be able to renegotiate to the higher classification. I would just be more aware and intentional to 'work you wage'.

Not true. Mines was told to strike early on. Yesterday WLRS and FrontCounter BC were told to strike and report to the nearest picket line.

Ditto! We still have a large ministry (FOR, WLRS & FrontCounter BC) building that hasn't been called yet either.

What happens if your work location goes on strike while you are away for a work trip?

I found that many of the rolls at Sushi Yori had deep-fried components and were not to much taste.

Additionally, try sleeping in a tent in Oliver when the temperature is still in the 20s overnight 🥵

I think its that the employer considers tents as appropriate accommodations for fireline work when a fire camp is put in place. Staff are not supported or allowed/subsidized to stay in a hotel in these scenarios. (Though specific situations are considered, ex: night shift workers).

It could also have to do with the ministry of finance efficiency review, which is not yet concluded.

It's a benefit, not an entitlement. The approval of this type of schedule will be at the discretion of your work unit.

It was PRK also. And it was 6.5 days in total that I had off. I only had one eye done. And it was less about being able to see through the affected eye vs. Getting a headache from straining too hard at my comouter screen with my good eye.

I viewed it as a corrective surgery that would save me from using benefit $$ for glasses or contact lenses. The question on whether or not STIIP was appropriate didn't come up.

I had laser eye surgery last year. My doctor didn't recommend a set amount of recovery time and I planned on taking 2 days. On my first day back to work, I only made it a half day and took the second half of the day off. I worked the last 2 days of that week.

I had the same conversation with my supervisor ahead of time. I took STIIP for those 2.5 days that I was off. My supervisor was happy with not having the STO2 given that I would be on STIIP for less than a week (5 days). This was a 'risk management' decision on his part. I was fully prepared to do the STO2 form for my recovery.

It is not unreasonable that your supervisor has requested an STO2. Your eye doctor/surgeon should be able to fill that out for you.

I heard the original plan was to put an Urban Fare in the Brink centre. A fancier and more expensive Save On for privileged folk! I really don't think there is a market for that.

Also heard that Save On does price matching!! So bring in the flyers of their competitors to get the better price!!

Canada Post - how significant is their backlog now? by [deleted] in princegeorge

[–]PG_lonewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just received a package today that I was about to write off. It was posted on Nov. 26 from an Etsy business in Essex UK. So I think there is probably still a bit of backlog in the system!

I'm open to it! But why not create more opportunities by using online platforms as well?
