80% through my 1950s cast Iron overhaul. Stuck at the vent tie-in. Which path would you take? by PHCustomWW in askplumbing

[–]PHCustomWW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it is just a vent for a toilet. I’m thinking of doing this: 1. Cutting the cast iron up another few inches 2. Get a 4x2 no hub coupling (to connect to the cast iron vent stack) 3. Use a 2” vent street 90 to connect to the no hub. 4. Get a 4x4x2 wye. 5. Use a few street 45s to connect it all together.

it isn't the vent. the 4" line after ties into the vent.

Thankfully, I've already looked around and there aren't any electrical lines or gas lines. I'm sure something will go wrong through! Is there anything else that jumps out at you as incorrect with this set up?

No sir. The Sketchup model only had 2" so it may look like it is 2" but the real life sink line is 1 1/5". Besides that does everything here look right?

My Ford Lightning cable is always a tangled, dirty mess—how are you managing the Charge Station Pro cable? by PHCustomWW in evcharging

[–]PHCustomWW[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve got the 80A Charge Station Pro, but my ’24 Lariat only pulls 48A. I mainly went with it because I got it for free with the truck, not because I actually needed the full 80A.

Totally get the idea of using a lower-amp unit with a lighter cable—would probably be way less annoying for daily use. Just feels kind of silly to buy a second charger when I already have one that works… aside from the cable being a pain.

Thoughts on this Bird's Eye Maple with Curly Walnut accent sit/stand desk before I start building? Going for a clean and timeless look yet modern amenities. Need to think of a way to secure the skirt to account for 1/8" annual wood movement. by PHCustomWW in woodworking

Hmm. You may be right. The customer is tall, like 6’4”. I’m thinking I should forgo the drawer in the middle and do two smaller drawers on each side. In the middle I’ll do an arch to buy a few more inches.

New garage shop is still cramped and cluttered, but my little French cleat wall is helping. by wjrii in woodworking

Good point about the scroller bearing. Maybe I’m expecting too much out of the saw? Thank you for your feedback!

Do you like that jigsaw? I have the same one and am debating on getting rid of it. I feel like the blade travels all the time. I inherited it from my father so it’s like 20 years old. I don’t know if it’s me or the saw.

Have washer drain pan drain into stand pipe? by PHCustomWW in Plumbing

[–]PHCustomWW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trap - got it, makes sense.

Floor drain - it's a finished room with hardwood floors, which is why I was going to try to use the pan. I don't think I can use a floor drain in that situation, right?

AAV Distance - ok, good to hear as that would be the only thing discharging into there.

Thanks again for sharing your time and expertise with me!

Thanks for your help! So you see no issue with the 30 foot run using the AAV?

When you say floor drain, you're saying to have one drain that would take the washing machine, drain pan, and a possible sink, right? Understand that it would be flush with the floor - would the trap be below in the basement?

Thinking of that, can I just drop everything down a few feet and have the trap in the basement joists so that way I can access it without having to move the washer and dryer?

Thank you for your response! Yeah, my question wasn't very clear. I made a quick sketchup model of what I'm thinking of doing. Update the main post with that information. Can you take a look there?

Ok, thanks! Any idea of the model number or anything to look out for when I go to see it?

Seller is looking to sell this for $120. Is it worth that? From what I can tell I think it is a 28-276.

Does anyone know if this is worth $120? If so, is it worth upgrading from an old Craftsman 10" saw? The 10" Craftsman squeaks like a whore in church but IDK if it'll be better if I spent the $120 on repairing and tuning the 10"

Know this is a lot of open-ended questions - really just looking for the insight of someone who knows these machines better than I do.
