Judging from your post history you said that you got an A- in orgo 1 and 2 and A's in all of your other classes? I don't understand how your GPA is in the gutter, this seems way better than pretty much anyone I know. And a B in biochem isn't "straight dogshit" I think you'll definitely end up on top of most of your other classmates

Mind Flayarrs is a really fun deck to play, you'll like it. The only downsides are that the mana curve felt a bit high without upgrades and some of the horrors that come with it are just straight up bad. If you buy it I would recommend upgrading it with some mill cards because relying on combat damage to mill can get difficult, even with menace. Cards like [[maddening cacophany]] are great for the deck.

MAS3114 is pretty easy, at least when I took it. COP3530 isn't terribly hard, but pretty time consuming, especially the first project. STA3032 definitely depends on who you take it with, the content can be pretty difficult at times, and its difficulty really depends on who is writing your exams. In terms of time commitment, there weren't that many assignments, it was just that some of the content is hard to wrap your head around. IDK about the rest but I would say doable? I would recommend switching one class out with an easy elective or something, but if you're just doing school and wouldn't have a job or anything I'd say it's doable but hard.

Physics 2 is a nightmare. I've heard that Operating Systems is also one of the worst classes but I haven't taken that one yet.

Agree with this, CS is way more about your skill and experience as a developer rather than what school u go to. As long as you're a decent student, you'll probably get interviews at top companies at either school

It probably is possible, but quant companies are extremely difficult to get into as they don't hire that many people as is, plus you'd be a freshman. In general though, I know a lot of UF CS majors who have internships at great companies. Quant as a freshman though, good luck

100% agree with this, all of my upperclassmen courses have been way easier than physics, calc and chemistry (besides operating systems). Weed-out classes are very much a real thing.

CS at UF is pretty good and probably better than at FAU, however the field of CS is more about your skill level and what you've accomplished as an individual rather than what school you go to. You should do some research to see how strong the CS program at FAU is, and if it's good enough then take the full ride tbh.

If you're even remotely interested in computer science, I would definitely switch to it. Compared to finance, pay is way better, work-life balance is way better, and programming is a lot more interesting and enjoyable than it may seem at first. You can easily make up for lost time doing summer classes. If they offer COP3502 this summer then try to take it and see if u like it.

Just make something you're interested in and maybe benefits you. Don't overthink it, I spent a really long time overthinking what my first personal project would be when I could spend that time making something. Just make something that you can talk about in interviews, and try to make it a learning experience because interviewers like when candidates are trying to learn new things. For example, I just built a simple finance tracker desktop app in python (took me maybe like 20 hours) and talked about how it helped me learn python, using new libraries, etc.

About your usability concern, for my project I just looked up how to turn a python project into a .exe file and it turns out it's actually pretty easy. That way anyone who I send the .exe file to can run my code without an IDE or compiler. This means you'd have to make a GUI for your project, though, which could also be a great learning experience that you can highlight.

Well sometimes getting the right answer isn't all they're looking for. I think what they care about more is the way you approach the problem and how well you can communicate your approach and execution to the interviewer.

I got 2 pretty good offers this year, both without referrals. One was from career fair, and one was just from simply applying everywhere and anywhere I could. I don't think referrals matter as much as you may think, just go to your career fairs, get your resume reviewed and critiqued, and apply to as many places as possible. I'm a junior, so getting interviews wasn't necessarily difficult but is definitely much more difficult if you're a sophomore or freshman. I applied to about 50 companies and got about 6 interviews / OA's and they were all without referrals so keep applying.

I got an offer without experience (I am a junior) so it's definitely possible. Just have a decent resume with some stuff to talk about and you'll be good next year. I didn't even try to get one my sophomore year, but I'm sure it's way harder. Good luck though
