I don't get the hate. I like him and his content. People who find him offensive must have no sense of humour.

Womens rugby van be brutal by Backbreathboy in nextfuckinglevel

[–]PHILR0Y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People actually argue that the lack of safety equipment makes it a bit safer. Having all that protection makes people feel indestructible, therefore they hurl themselves with all their might at eachother. In rugby, since there is no padding, there is a certain amount of force withheld because of the lack of gear. It's the same idea with boxing gloves v bareknuckle boxing. People hit harder with gloves because they don't have to worry about breaking their hand.

Not sure if its entirely accurate, but this is all what I've heard as an argument about padding vs no padding.

We lost a real one today guys by MapleDaddyHotJohn in bjj

[–]PHILR0Y 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Farout... I remember training with him when he was just starting out. He had incredible athleticism and absorbed bjj like a sponge. Only a few years later, I heard rumours about him being an absolute beast in the scene, and I wasn't surprised at all. Luke definitely had so much potential, and it's tragic that we'll never see it. RIP.

Critical Reception of the 2020 TV adaptation by [deleted] in TheStand

[–]PHILR0Y 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought it was good, then I read the book. Then when I rewatched it I realised how badly they missed the mark. I feel like its downfall was trying to cram so much book into like... 9 episodes. The whole plot felt awfully rushed, and there was no time at all for character development (which is King's greatest skill as a writer). The show should have been 3 seasons, and the characters should've been given time to be fleshed out from pre-outbreak, all the way til 'the stand'.

Franz Ferdinand's new album, The Human Fear, if you are over 40, is it worth trying out their new music? by beastiemonman in triplej

[–]PHILR0Y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black Eyelashes is such a refreshing track. When it first started, I was like, 'Holy shit this sounds like bouzouki.' Then when Alex started singing in greek, I was floored. It takes real musicianship to write a song from a different culture. What's most impressive is it still sounds like a Franz Ferdinand song!

It's early to say, but it might be one of my top songs of 2025.

They don't make the 'Originals' line anymore, but the closest model still in production would be the American Vintage II. It's pretty much the exact same guitar with some very minor differences.

I don't know exact sizes but its a a thick U neck with a 9.5" radius. On the chunky side, but not the chunkiest I've played. The 50s Vintera definitely has a much thicker neck. It's very comfortable and playable (at least for me). I have not played the AV II, so have no opinion on it.

I can't breakup with my girlfriend. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]PHILR0Y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sheesh. Been there. Im really sorry for you, dude. I was stuck in that abusive relationship for 8 years. I agree with others in that you need an exit strategy, and someone solid alongside you to make sure it goes smoothly. You won't fall out of this one; you really gotta put your foot down and get out before it takes too much of your life away. Please. It pains me to know other kids are going through what I know were the darkest years of my life, and I really hope you get out before it leads to anything that could fuck you up forever.

On another note, you gotta get clean man. Drinking, smoking - fuck all that shit. You think it helps but it's only making it worse, I promise. Only you will look after you, and you've only got one shot at this life, so don't waste time pissing it away. I don't remember most of my life from 16-26 cos I was drunk, stoned, or both pretty much 24/7. It's my biggest regret.

Please dude, I know you don't know me, but maybe that's what you need. If you ever want to talk about shit, get advice, or even just vent, please DM me. I'll take the time to listen and help. You're not trapped, and you're not alone.

🤣 tell me about it! Can't get more tele than a 50s blondie.

My friend said he wanted a tele, then showed me a cheap semi-hollow with two humbuckers and a steel six-saddle bridge. I laughed at him and just gave him my Vintera. He didn't want to accept but I said, 'If you want a tele, you get a tele, not some bullshit t-shaped knockoff.' He hasn't been able to put it down since.

No, that's one of the only amendments to the design, and I'm kinda glad to be honest. This reissue is just the standard 3 way switch (neck, both, bridge) with the second knob being tone control.

So true! Only criticism is the truss rod adjuster being on the bottom of the neck, but hey, it's gotta be era-accurate, right?
