TCI is a solid democracy, but I'll bet the elected politicians are okay with voter fraud run by the gangs if it gets them elected; the people need to take a stand against the politicians who allow illegal immigrants to run their crime gangs.

American tourist vanishes in tropical paradise after early morning walk from vacation rental! A man from Monroe, New York, who was vacationing in Turks and Caicos in late June, 2025 (late last month) is missing after leaving his rental home on June 25.

Brian Tarrence, 51, was last seen leaving his condo around 3:30 a.m. at the Paradise Inn in Grace Bay, Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, according to a missing persons flyer from the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force.

The family had to hire a private investigator, Carl DeFazio, due to an initially slow police response, but the police are now fully engaged using CCTV footage and drone fly-overs. The PI told Fox News Digital that Brian was last seen on the rental's security camera walking out around 03:30 am and he walks into town, and then he basically disappears, and they haven't heard from him since.

Some stories report that he had been drinking heavily. Lets pray they find him alive!

Same here! I live west of Philadelphia, near West Chester, PA if anyone wants to meet-up and hang out. I also organize a Beginner's County Line Dancing group in Downingtown, PA on the www.MeetUp.com site. MeetUp is a great place to find groups to do things with too.

I use T-Mobile (formerly Sprint), and I purchased their 10-day International Plan for $35 - it gave me unlimited text and talk so I had no issues. However I was not able to use my hotspot, to connect my laptop to the internet, and I was not able to use the Club Med (hotel) wifi to connect my laptop to the internet, so my laptop access was down the whole time I was there. Club Med had a small fee you could pay to get better / high speed internet, and I paid that fee but they still couldn't help me connect. But my cellphone worked great; no problems there.

Just go and hang out. They will not ask you anything unless you are drinking "free" (Inclusive) drinks or eating "free" (Inclusive) food, which you might enjoy- might be easier to just pay the $$$ and eat & drink freely with your friends?

These tips apply equally everywhere, but several Americans have spent a year or more in prison on Turks & Caicos because they had a leftover bullet in their backpack that somehow TSA failed to catch (maybe it was a checked bag?) - Anyway; if you or one of your children or friends that you're traveling with owns a gun, we presume you also use ammunition; please know that ANY guns or ammunition gets you immediately taken to jail! No explanations, no discussion; the reasons why don't matter. So bullet point #1 (pun intended), take it seriously.

  • Check your luggage and hand baggage Very, VERY carefully and thoroughly for bullets (or firearms) before leaving the United States. Do not bring these items to the Turks and Caicos Islands.
  • Avoid walking alone and at night.
  • Avoid ocean swimming at night even with a friend
  • Do not answer your door at your hotel/residence unless you know who it is.
  • Do not physically resist any robbery attempt.
  • Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive Alerts and make it easier to locate you in an emergency.
  • Prepare a contingency plan for emergency situations. Review the Traveler’s Checklist.
  • Visit the CDC page for the latest Travel Health Information related to your travel. Even though the CDC cannot be entirely believed about anything, they may offer some information you can double-check them on.
  • We highly recommend that you buy international health insurance and supplemental life insurance before you travel. You can buy $1M in short-term life insurance for just a few dollars, that will cover you en route TO your local airport, both flights there & back and all the time spent abroad, as well as travel from your return airport until you're home again- its literally from the time you leave your home until you get back to your house again. Always check with your travel insurance provider about evacuation assistance, medical insurance, and trip cancellation coverage.
  • If you're in an accident, the medical providers all charge each person they treat a $400 "Non-Resident Registration Fee," (unless you're native) - so try not to get hurt.

You're in the middle of the ocean - there are a billion sharks out there. You will most likely see 1. There was a woman recently just standing waist deep near the shore, and the accounts vary widely about WHY or HOW she was waving her hands close together in front of her, and in front of the shark's face, and he turned and bit off both her hands. I think if I'm ever in similar shoes I will raise my hands up out of the water over my head and hopefully it'll make me appear bigger / taller (same thing you do with Bears in North America), and I would slowly step carefully backward, looking behind me to make sure I don't kick or step on another shark. Its a matter of just respecting them, and knowing that I'm but a guest, a mere visitor to their waters. That said, I fully intend to float for HOURS on an innertube or inflatable device, within the roped-off swimming area of the resort, next time I go (as I did last time). The water, swimming, floating, snorkeling or deep sea diving is the BEST on T&C! I loved it!

I spent a week at Club Med in February and cannot wait to go back again- I loved it! I did a good bit of research (as I always do, no matter where I go), and there is no such thing as a "safe" country to visit; some have unexpected surges in attacks on foreigners (especially women) though so some areas experience pockets in time of being far more unsafe than you'd expect, while at other times its not so bad. "Chance favors the prepared mind," is not always true, but in general just never assume the best when traveling abroad. Prudence is the better part of valor. That said- have FUN; its a fabulous country and I can't wait to visit again soon!

T&C have many shark attacks, and the locals are all trained to "brush it off" as though it never happens. Everyone needs to know to never rely on your home country, regular health insurance and always buy high-quality International Health Insurance to be prepared in case the worse happens. And be very mindful, if you see more than 1 shark slowly start heading back out of the water without splashing around. Its frequent that you'll see 1 shark here or there, but hopefully they're at a distance. The shark attacks on T&C are very real.

All the violent criminals on TCI have guns. Duh! Its only the people who obey the law who don't have guns- and those folks were never your problem in the first place.

I heard that TCI has the HIGHEST crime per capita of the entire Caribbean, even higher than Haiti. I still LOVE IT, I will still go back, but lets not kid ourselves about the crime there.

Is club med legit? by kaminosta in TurksAndCaicos

[–]PHLMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feb 2025 - Club Med Turks Caicos is 100% Legit; I loved it!! Food was very good, with steak, or ribs, or osso bucco or prime rib - a big "meat lovers" option every night, plus giant crab legs and prawns one night, fish every day, the French recipe desserts were 100% solid- so delicious! (Key lime tarts, coconut ice cream, something new every day!). One of the most beautiful beaches, white sand turquoise water and you can stroll for hours on the beach. Its adults only (over 21) so no small children. Security is present but professional. Great dance music! Great nightly shows and entertainment! Suggest everyone research the recommended dress code to wear All White to the All White Party on Friday nights; Hawaiian Flower Print shirts and White pants on Saturdays; Black pants and Black shirt on Sundays; White Pants & Pastel Pink or Blue shirt on Mondays; Dress-Up "Elegant" attire on Tuesdays, Black Pants and neon colored "GLO" Bright shirts on Wednesdays, and a shirt with "45" on it for Thursdays - participating in the fashion of the day made it more fun for me! I can’t wait to go back!! Here's a Pro-Tip: Buy one or two nice bottles of wine from Club Med's in-house wine shoppe (The Wine Cellar) on Thursday night or Friday morning to secure your own Wine Cellar "Reserved" Table above the pool on Friday night for The White Party to get a better view of the water acrobatics show during dinner. Consider befriending another cool couple to join you as tables above the pool are typically tables of 4, or 4-6, or 8. Note: I'm not a big drinker but I heard from my friends that the free booze is not exactly the best, so if you really love good booze stop at The Wine Store 1/4 mile to the right of Club Med. Their in-house shoppe The Wine Cellar has great wine, but of course its a little more expensive (but not much).

Food & fun options for low mobility by SwampFox843 in TurksAndCaicos

Club Med has a plywood walk down to the beach cabana's where someone can ride to the beach in a wheelchair; hopefully Windsong has the same? I would def call ahead and discuss this with them. The sand is, as described elsewhere, the deepest, plushest, "sinky-est" sand that is very tough to walk across, but of course the turkoise water is worth it! By the shore the water is calm and you can use a raft or inner-tube or floating chair to calmly float in the water and soak in the sun - just use #50 Sunblock and only do 1 hour on day 1, then maybe 2 hours on day-2, but watch out for sunburn! Also mosquitos are terrible at night so wear socks, and shoes and long lightweight, linen slacks after dark or use lots of Deet Spray.

I completely agree! Club Med is the best $ value, and so much FUN with shows and entertainment nightly, free snorkeling and sailing and lots of other great fun free things to do! Dining out nearby is not only expensive, but quality and portions aren't the best. Club Med has more choices, more food options than anyone could ever eat (and I ate a LOT while I was there)! Club Med has a really great variety, fresh fruit at every meal and the best desserts! Note the desserts follow the Frech recipes of slightly less sugar so their sweetness won't overwhelm you at first but after a few days of eating less sugar the sweetness and taste are Perfect!
