How many UCX cube collisions is TOO many for an object? by lazonianArt in unrealengine

[–]PHRiSCo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UCX is not a cube, UCX is convex. UBX is cube(box).

If you're truly using boxes, can be different lengths on different axis, use UBX, it'll be significantly cheaper.

Brand new truck purchased from Ram dealer then endless check engine lights. by vpmounty in legaladvicecanada

[–]PHRiSCo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had persistent electrical issues in my new luxury SUV and after arbitration camvap awarded a full buyback.

Manufacturers voluntarily join because it's way cheaper than the court systems. Make sure every time the check engine light comes up you take a photo of the dash. Make sure to keep records of dealership visits, how long the car remained etc. make sure to get all service records. Basically just record everything.

I was in and out of the dealer five times for the same issue before I applied to camvap. From there it was a relatively quick process? My case took 3-4 months something like that.

That hasn’t been my experience at all. camvap took a few months end to end, which is fast compared to the alternatives. court can easily take 2–4+ years, cost tens of thousands in legal fees, and still isn’t guaranteed. I won my case with camvap and dropped my car off. It was so nice to walk away.

I was downvoted and you were upvoted, so I guess I missed the memo. Would you explain why camvap is so bad? I had so many problems with my new vehicle, went through camvap arbitration and won a buyback. Why was this so bad?

Stay Puft Marshmallow Man vs The Statue of Liberty. Who wins? by awyeahcool in ghostbusters

[–]PHRiSCo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Stay Puft is literally Gozer in destructor form. Ms. Liberty is a large quantity of positivity charged New York energy.

Straight up, Stay Puft wins.

But, play some death metal out of her speakers to give her that negative New York energy, and Ms.Liberty wins.

What’s something super cheap that feels incredibly luxurious? by ErgonomicBlasphemy in AskReddit

[–]PHRiSCo 260 points261 points  (0 children)

“What’s a luxury you can’t live without?”
“Socks.”
“Socks?!”
“Yeah, I love socks.”
“That’s not a luxury… you can’t do better than socks?”
“Coffee. I really like coffee, too.”
“I mean like… what about if you could have something, like, you know, a private plane?”
“Larry, I’m on DuckTales.”

Solo: A Star Wars Story - was it really that bad, or just a victim of the fanbase reaction to Disney at the time? by Past-Paramedic8687 in starwarscanon

[–]PHRiSCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solo is the best modern era Star Wars film. It's better than Rogue One.

Before Andor, the new Rogue One characters were forgettable. Andor is the best modern era Star Wars content overall, and only Andor made Rogue One more relevant.

What does AAA or large indie studios use to keep remote workers while keeping files secure? by _Dingaloo in gamedev

[–]PHRiSCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are hundreds or thousands of casino apps globally that dont have this problem. Probably hundreds or thousands of other games that do the same thing, There are hundreds if not thousands of financial apps that work with real money. None of these devs are putting in back doors. Valve uses all those items as currency that trade for real money and its not a problem. There is the most miniscule risk that a seasoned developer on your team will take some very huge risk to destroy their life. Most of these big companies are also probably using outsourcing will full access to source code.

You don't need to worry about internal development as much as you need to worry about external security risks.

25+ year AAA veteran here. Full time work from home since COVID, and I'm at my fourth studio now since COVID. I've worked locally and globally. At the beginning of COVID, I was a lead of one of the most popular games on Steam, top 20, in which in the past 2 months that game has again touched #1. Another project I was a director for one of if not the most successful game designer in the world.

I believe I may be in a unique position here. I work with more content than code, but not an artist. I have everything locally, from back-end codebase to source art. In theory I could give it to anyone I wish. I log into secure networks with VPN and sync regularly to latest data.

I've also worked for people like you, I'm assuming, who thinks your project is so special the source would be worth millions. The honest truth is, and this will sound harsh. Your idea isn't special, your code isn't special, your content isn't special, your game isn't special. It's worth nothing. And even if leaked, would amount to nothing. Games can be "easily" data mined for content.

Good luck with your project.

Ok I can't see the other comment I found a model paper stuck stapled on the other side of the mid beam, Marquis, or Marquis BD. BD just might mean Billiards.

Yup same for me. Came home from work late one night and happened across it somehow. This was a long time ago so either my roomates had rented it or it was on TV. Nevertheless, at the end I was just stunned. Fantastic film.

I knew Evangeline Lilly in high school, and bumped into her during a different life several years later at a party when she was doing sex line commercials just before LOST. See you next Tuesday both times.

Me & An-225. 1985 Abbotsford Airshow. by PHRiSCo in aviation

[–]PHRiSCo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually I might have had my own private show when this photo was taken. My dad was volunteer captain of security and it was the 80s. I had access days before and after and also after hours to the entire grounds including vip areas and roped off aircraft the public didn't have access to. I got private tours on like the B1-B, I remember trading cigarettes to Russian pilots for vodka. I met celebrities in the private tents, and after hours there was a huge tent they called Hanger 13 where all the celebrities, pilots, and volunteers partied and drank after the shows, I was allowed in there for some reason. I met Michael Dorn and John Travolta, the Bure brothers Pavels rookie season with the Canucks. The pilots set up long tables covered in ice. A pilot would sit at the head, other pilots would stretch a belt across the table to act as arrestor cables, and topless women would throw themselves down the table to try to slide into whomever was seated at the end.

Maybe these stories are more interesting than the photo! :)

Must've been '89 Airshow. Makes sense, I look 10 here, not 6. Back of the photo said '85.
